Obviously I'd like us to finish higher but a part of me is curious to see how Max responds to questions of us failing our objectives of qualifying for CL with a top 4 finish if we qualify finishing 5th.
He'll shrug the top 4 and change his tone to say we still met our objective, CL qualification.

This is actually a great time to sack Allegri, as there is 10 points between us and 5th spot. it allows us to bring in someone like Zidane or equivalent, let him get familiar with the team in the last x games, qualify and then start ground running for the new season.

in fact what matters is the 6th place which is 11 points off

either way sacking is too late. and yes, we should definitely get a new coach for next season. extending allegri makes zero sense and without the extension his contract would expire at the middle of the club world club. even jj can't afford that, let alone a serious club

If only football worked in such a shallow minded fashion. It wouldn't even be popular.

If anybody has been exposed, it's you and your limited understanding on what it is you're watching. But that's been evident for quite some time now.
You got called out for making a stupid statement. Your ego cannot admit you were wrong and you go around calling others having a 'shallow understanding' based on your purely subjective opinion about them being the '2nd best team in Europe'.

I bet you were reduced to tears when Inda players choked their PK's lol

that's usually true until it isn't

remember city being THE bookmakers' favorite for years, then choking against teams like spurs or lyon? remember jj having cristiano, the epitome of a player who steps up on big occasions, until he didn't? remember real being a top favorite for years, and not able to convert it to actual wins until zidane benched james rodriguez in favor of casemiro? and the list is practically endless

did we have players who could step up throughout the years? of course, plenty. trezeguet decided an international tournament, that's as clutch as it gets in football. then he missed a penalty in a cl final

inda being the 2nd best team is an obvious stretch, but they were easy favorites against atletico. we're celebrating not only because tuz still have some elements of a juventus forum left but also they were heavy favorites, especially after a home win and leading in the return leg. and they fortunately choked. that doesn't make them not favorites in hindsight
So we agree...

One poster called them a 'CL favorite' and another poster with his 'superior' understanding of the game still believes they are the 2nd best team in Europe.

You are giving examples of elite teams with stacked benches who eventually figured things out. As would any team with world class clutch players. Of course there are outliers to this like PSG who ironically, just like Inter, get hyped for steam rolling minnows in the league but fail to step up on big CL nights.

This Inter team is having a great season but you can argue that their talent level is on a similar level to Atletico's. You have stacked teams like City, Madrid, Bayern and then there's a gap.

Badass made a valid point about their bench. If they had better substitutes, they would have won this game easily.

And honestly the Inter bench problem is a Marotta problem imo

He finds players he loves and he constantly returns to them. Sanchez is a great example. This guy has been washed for nearly five years now and yet they just keep coming back to him. His wages aren't exactly low either so the question is WHY.

I agree but it's mostly a money problem too. Marotta finds it more convenient to have a past it 'experienced' player coming from the bench and make an impact than loading the bench with kids or some unknown gem.

It is still a money issue at the end of the day. Inda with their budget are actually overachieving. They're having an extraordinary season despite getting knocked out of Europe.

But make no mistake that their squad is filled with many of these bit part/journeymen players.

I miss the days of when the champions league only consisted of league winners, now its so diluted like the other European competitions, It won't be long till finishing anywhere outside of relegations gives you entry to a European competition of some kind

Fiorentina getting past Viktoria Plzen should be enough to get that spot. Serie A is that close.

But yeah, agree with you all that this is too much now. They should have given all 4 extra spots to the clubs out of Top5 leagues imo. To give more opportunities to the clubs like Olympiakos, Legia, Dinamo Zagreb etc.
