There are probably multiple factors contributing to the strength of their league: Lots of good domestic players, many of them technically proficient. Popular among South-American players, quite a few quality players from Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay for example. Very tactical league, some might even call it a defensive league.

It's crazy how underrated La Liga has became among the non La Liga following fan base.
i wouldn't :p pragmatic, yes. defensive, nah.

many, many technical and usually quick players is part of their secret. i don't watch epl, bundesliga or ligue 1 at all, but gimme a cadiz - getafe and i consider switching from sassuolo - bologna at halftime.

La Liga also has a B team structure since ages. It would be interesting to know how many youth players playing for B teams have been promoted straight to the first team or have had successful careers in top flight football.

Really impressed with Real, they're just something else in this cup.

And Modric is still world class. That assist to Benzema yesterday. :tuttosport:

City - Real Madrid in the semis will be a mouthwatering tie. Hopefully Real will make it through to the final.

And no, I don't think Chelsea or Atletico will be able to turn it around.

this is supposed to be Real's weak years and they still manage to make it to the semis every year. FFS! Incredible.

If you think about it, that Ronaldo bicycle kick gol really broke us. We have never been the same after that. Not just that, but had he not scored that goal and gotten that standing ovation maybe he never comes here. Anyways that gol was the "estocada" to our ascent.
nah, Casemiro's goal in Cardiff is exactly the one that broke us beyond repair. No doubt about it.

I know right? It's insane...

They're just the greatest club. Fuck all the Bayerns, Juve, Barca, Pool, United etc of this world. This club is just something else in the European Cup/CL.

Their number of reaches semis speaks for itself too. So far ahead of everyone else.

Well lets see how they do against a side like City. For some reason I think Carlo will spank Pep once again.

Somehow in the end someone always spanks Pep in CL. This is the 6th season Pep is managing a City side with wast resources to not just compete, but also win CL, but in the end he always succumbs to a side that they should be able to beat on paper.

2014 comes to mind. I will never forgive him for that home game.

About Real Madrid: To be fair, them winning 13 CL titles is mighty damn impressive. But they won the first 5 when the tournament was hardly taken serious at all. After they won in 1966 it took them 32 years to win it again, probably because most clubs started to see the prestige in the European Cup from the late 1960's and on. Thats when it grew into the most prestigious cup and trophy of them all.

If Real Madrid reach the final yet again then you can bet they'll win it. They always manage to get luck on their side and grind out a victory in a CL final.

7 CL finals played, 7 CL finals won. Thats just insane.

yes they are the most successful, doesn't mean they're the only successful club.
I know and agree.
