We're a better team. But it's a silly comparison. We spend fortune on players during the summer while Napoli spends peantus unless they make a huge sale like Pipita -- or in the future when they sell some of their gems -- which can still make them stronger.

I think Napoli represents what small-ish clubs can do if they are on the right track. They did absolutely brilliant imo ever since their arrival from Serie B. They always buy very smart and minority of their transfers end up as a cack.

That's inaccurate. Our net spending every summer is nowhere near the top foreign clubs. Hell, we seem to spend less than Milan and Inter. Also, when we won our first scudetto we reinforced with guys like Vidal, Vucinic and Pirlo. None of them cost more than 20 mln. So it's possible to win. Just look at Leicester, Monaco, Dortmund or Atletico.

I think more significant comparison is the wage bill not spending on transfer market, as we and pretty much every club spends way more in wages than on transfer market and this shows the real spending power of a club. And here you can see that we pay our players 164m yearly while Napoli pay 81m (below Milan 117, Roma 91 and Inter 82), the fact that they're so close to us and other top clubs on the pitch speaks volumes about how well they're run because they're basically hobos compared to us, nevermind Manchester City.

They also had a huge sale in Higuain yet they decided not to reinvest that money into the squad. So my point is they had the chance to improve the squad but they only bought Milik for relatively small money.

Seeing with how 'tinny' budget they operate ever since they came from Serie B I'd say they did a fantastic job. Bar us (who had A LOT more financial power) I don't remember any club doing that recently. Not only staying in Serie A but becoming a tough competitor and a club that reaches CL -- which is by default a huge success -- especially if we're talking about a lesser club.

Monaco where one of the biggest spenders in Europe when Rybolovlev took over and that basically launched them from Ligue 2 side to one of the main competitors for league title, Dortmund has been a solid Bundesliga upper table club since forever

Atletico is a solid example though, I've been admiring their management for a long time, for the past decade they've always had at least one of the best forwards in Europe at the time while being a modest club compared to Real/Barca, that line of Torres, Aguero, Forlan, Falcao, Costa, Griezmann is truly impressive
