Paul, I'm not sure where you are residing, or how readily available the parts for it are where you live, but I might be able to get you some contacts here in the States who will gladly ship the parts overseas, if needed.

    Cheers Serge,
I may well take you up on that at a later date.

I have A supposed expert coming round next week to have a look and give me some advice... Hopefully he can sort out parts, but if not I will have a chat with you.

It needs alot of work, but im giving myself upo 2 years so theres no hurry.

    As it stands:

    The engine is perfect
Gearbox is shot ... Though my local merc garage say they should be able to rebuild for me.

    Chassis is fine

Needs complete front end rebuild, rear suspension shot

    3 wheels fecked
All panels on drivers side shot, front end/ bonnet very bad
Rest of car is somewhat rusty
Most of interior in a bad way
Needs exhausts, petrol tank, all suspension/ steering parts and electrics

And prob much more I havent noticed

But a good engine and chassis is hard to find and it should, though expensive be relatively straight forward to make great again

Paul, is it the original engine?

I'm not sure what year they started matching the VIN #'s, but if its the original engine to that Shelby, you may have very well come across the Holy Grail for Mustang Afficionados everywhere.

From the info I have they do indeed match, this is the main reason I have this supposed expert coming to see me.

It should be as this car was involved in an accident on farmland in 1982 and has basically been sitting in a barn ever since

Sir, I both admire and hate you unconditionally at the same time.:D:D

And what the hell was an American classic like that doing in a barn???

One more question, paul. Is the gearbox you mentioned a 3 or 4 speed on the floor? The '71 Mach 1 that my friend has but won't sell to me is a 3 speed.

    Filthy rich bastard... ;)

    Z, here' s what I'm thinking.

If the person in question realized just what kind of car he/she had, then in no way would it have been in the condition that its in.

Paul probably got it at a good price.

So, the correct term would be:

    "You lucky, opportunistic, resourceful bastard!!!!!"

Did you read the first part: a Mercedes SL55 AMG? So we could say: You lucky, opportunistic, resourceful, yet filthy rich bastard ;)

    Pretty much, serge

Messing about on local farm on my dirtbike
Pass barn, catch a glimpse of something I recognised

    Dismount, enter barn

Jaw drops, shouts.. Its a fecking shelby

    Rush off to see owner

    That car in the barn..

Oh that it was my fathers

Can I buy it off you...

Of course, glad to get rid of it

    How much do you want...

nothing really jus get it out, not worth anything anyway

Do you know what it is...

    Yeah, its a mustang

Thats not jus a mustang, thats a fecking shelby...

    A what

    A 1967 shelby gt500...

    Sorry i dont know cars

Its a classic and very rare...

I doubt that and in that condition it cant be worth anything

It is , Im telling you...

Look, If you want it take it

    Ok ,I'll be back...

Goes to bank and gets an amount i deem fair, borrow mates flatbed to bring it home.
Return to farm ,load up car,
Owner signs car over to me, I push money to him, and make my escape as he chases me telling me its too much

Get home proud owner of dream car
