just randomly asking: do you think CR7 is the greatest finisher ever? If not him, who is?
in modern times, pippo inzaghi, period... I mean, the guy is relatively small and skinny, can't dribble, can't pass, can't even shield the ball and fell more often than giovinco when touched, got offside a billion times more than any other players on earth combined, yet he scores like what 300+ goals?

at least trezeguet has a tall and somewhat commanding physique
at least romario, both ronaldos, messi have amazing technique
at least falcao has speed and agility
at least batigol and shearer had amazing rocket kick and strength.

pippo inzaghi? wtf did he have other than finishing?

when one create a dictionary of football, pippo inzaghi should be synonymous with the term finishing.

Inzaghi was very wasteful. I was more often frustrated when he played here. Usually missed tons of chances before finding a net, but he had unbelievably good feeling where the ball will finish, where to be at the right time to make the most of it.

Anticipation? Composure? Movement off the ball?
Yes, definitely anticipation and movement off the ball.

Offside more likely.

Davor Šuker, WC '98 top scorer, scored more than 300 goals in his career while playing in Spain for RM, Sevilla, NT and in other leagues. No bias. :D

You'll laugh but Michael Owen was an assassin in front of goal. Saw him in the flesh several times, and you just knew when the ball went to him in certain positions it was going in the net. You could see him take a little glance and know where the ball is going, one touch and it's in the net.

It's really not something you can teach, that composure when faced with big pressure for a split second.

Even at the end of his career when he was finished he still had it if the ball was on a plate for him, the little fucker.

Thought about mentioning him, he was there for a while among the elite, before he went to Real. Later on injuries got to him. He almost won ballon d'or iirc in 2001. Terrific shot he had.
