Still hope he renews, got to be more careful obviously and i'm sure many reactions now are in the heat of the moment but overall he was no less shaky than everyone else, could even argue that he was actually of the few more positively involved for us rather than the opposite... while if you think about it the PK afterall didn't cost us and could (should) have been the morale shift for us to turn it around if not for us playing like total crap and being clueless regardless of any individual incident.
In the end he was least at fault for how incapable this team is of creating an semi decent attack and bringing home a result, Chiellini is just as affected as everyone else by how much we've regressed afterall and if anything you could still see he was giving his all, did also alot in winning duels and building from the back while keeping us on the front foot in many situations(if you can't see this than you are just biased tbf), nevermind his organizational skills, he is still more than reliable to be a back-up for next season and fill in when needed, especially thinking about how injury prone our CB department has been this past few seasons it makes even more sense to do so if he feels like continuing for another seasonaswell.
Under a competent coach that can set up a defence he can thrive again, and yes even in this VAR era, as he in fact proved it possible in many other games when he was flawless, nonetheless also deserves a better farewell than this failed experiment of a season.
