Juve Re-Enter Ivanovic Race?
According to Datasport, Juventus are considering re-entering the race to sign Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic, following the injury to Giorgio Chiellini.
Chiellini suffered what looked like a serious knee injury against Milan in the Trofeo Berlusconi last night, and the latest reports suggest that he will be out of action for at least 40 days.
“Chiellini could just have a sprain on his left knee and we will do the necessary tests on Monday afternoon,” Juventus doctor Riccardo Agricola explained.
“It may not be anything too serious. We will see what the extent of the damage is and he may be out for around 40 days.”
However, in a worst possible scenario, Chiellini could be sidelined for as long as six months, which would be a huge blow for Juve.
As a result, the club are considering going back into the market for a replacement centre back. Datasport claims that the Old Lady are ready to re-enter the race to sign Chelsea outcast Branislav Ivanovic.
Ivanovic had seemed almost certain to join Milan last week, with the two clubs involved in advanced negotiations, and with the Serb having already agreed personal terms.
However, the transfer then collapsed at the last moment when the West London club refused to insert an option into Ivanovic’s prospected loan deal.
Juventus were also strongly linked with the 24-year-old earlier this summer, and they could not be set to reignite their interest.
Ivanovic has still yet to make his debut for Chelsea since joining the club from Lokomotiv Moscow for €13m in January.
