both, Italy responding to the comments by saying what about De Jong? and Juve saying is it because he's a Juve player?
I think the Italian FA should possibly comment about the allegations that Italy were overly agressive (I didn't watch the game, so I don't know if they were), but I don't think Juve need to say anything yet.

If the story doesn't go away in the next couple of days, then Juve should consider coming out in support of Chiellini.

Italy kick too much, says Kuyt
Tuesday 17 November, 2009
Holland international striker Dirk Kuyt has accused Italy of playing dirty during Saturday's friendly in Pescara.

The match ended 0-0, suggesting a bore draw, but it was remarkable for Giorgio Chiellini's tackle on Robin van Persie, which left the Arsenal man with partially torn ankle ligaments.

He will now fly to Serbia for an unconventional course of treatment involving the placenta from a horse, which will be rubbed into his ankle in a bid to reduce his recovery time to six weeks.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Kuyt said: “I was very disappointed. We played a friendly against a big country - Italy - and if you see the way they kicked us it's very sad, very sad for the Dutch team and also very sad for Robin because he was in great form.

“I think it was a bad tackle. Sometimes you think about this when you play a friendly for your country there should be more respect for each other and hopefully it won't happen in the future.”

Everton and Holland centre-back Johnny Heitinga also expressed his regret that van Persie got injured.

“It's hard for a team, but harder for himself as he has been playing well for the last couple of months and he was one of the best players in the Premier League.

“I hope for him he recovers soon,” Heitinga concluded.

I think calling Chiellini the best defender in the world is a little premature right now, but IMO he has the chance of earning that title if he continues his good form this season and especially if he is one of the best defenders at the world cup. He has been world class in Serie A but now he needs to perform in the C.L. and on the biggest stage this summer

He is up their with the best now in my opinion. We saw how the press overated Pique last year because he won the Cahmpions League with Barcelona and for me its clear he is not a patch on Chiellini. Winning big trophies does not always equate to you not being world class.

I agree, Chiello is way better than Pique. I never said anything in my post about him needing Juve or Italy to win any trophies I said he as an individual needs to perform
