Ince’s Capello rage

Milton Keynes Dons boss Paul Ince has hit out at the FA’s decision to offer Fabio Capello the England manager’s job. “It is a sad indictment on English football that we have to go to Europe for a manager,” the former midfielder raged on BBC’s Football Focus. “We have enough managers in England who could do just as good a job. In English football we say that you’ve got to get your qualifications, you’ve got to do this and you’ve got to get that. But when you build your CV up and they go out and get a foreign manager, sometimes you think 'what’s the point?’”

Boo-fucking-hoo, Ince. Your managers suck. If they didn't, they wouldn't hire foreignors.

Redknapp rubbishes choice of Capello - report

LONDON (AFP) — Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp believes the Football Association has taken "unnecessary" steps in appointing the respected Italian coach Fabio Capello as England manager.

Capello will take charge of England on a four and a half year contract reportedly worth 6.5 million pounds (13 million dollars) a year.

The no-nonsense Italian's CV is rich with nine league titles in 15 seasons with four different clubs in Italy and Spain, and a Champions League victory with AC Milan in 1994.

With such a record, the FA have achieved their aim of appointing a 'world class' coach who, they hope, will lead England to success at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

But Redknapp feels that England, who failed to qualify for the 2008 European Championships under former manager Steve McClaren, don't need a coach with such a pedigree to succeed.

He told the Daily Mail: "Do you have to be a super-coach to manage England? Does Steven Gerrard need coaching? Of course not. Or Ashley Cole, John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Micah Richards, Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney?

"You get them for three days before a game, what will you coach them? Would I get Gerrard and coach him on passing a football or Lampard on running on to the ball and hitting it in the top corner from 30 yards?

"It's not about coaching! It's about picking the players, getting them organised, giving them belief, giving them a platform to play without fear and getting the best out of them.

"It doesn't need Jurgen Klinsmann or Fabio Capello. Top coaches? It's a fallacy. I've seen one, maybe two in my lifetime, no more.

"Football is about the management of players. To be manager of England, you don't have to be a great coach - they don't exist - you have to be a manager."

He added of Capello: "I'm not unhappy with his appointment. I just think the manager of England should be English."

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Someone's apparently ticked off at not getting the job.
The damning indictment of Redknapp's outburst for me is that he actually knows nothing about Capello other than the fact that he knows Capello's Cv

Because what he described is Capello to a T as Capello is no coach, is not a tactical genius but a great manager that knows how to get the best out of what he has got and relies just as heavily on his rivals failing.

In other words he knows how to win league titles not cups as courage is not something he possesses as there is not a chance in hell that Capello would have played Dp, Toni, Iaquinta, Gilardino and Pirlo against Germany in the semi final

Speaking of Redknapp, Maclaren was bashed from pillar to post whether wrongly or rightly, it does not matter, but he took Middlesboro to their 1st ever cup win and to the final of UEFA cup, Redknapp has never even taken any team of his to Europe but he believes his own hype for some reason.

The players are not available to win big tournaments and neither is a decent English manager and shouting about telling the world that you have the best league in the world and then blame the same foreigners that help in making it such a spectacle is just irritating.

Italy have as much foreigners and could be argued that the standard of foreign talent in Italy is much lower, but they are still world champs and did not fail to qualify for 74 wc 78 wc 94 wc as well as euro 84and 08 like England did with English managers at the helm.

    Golden generation my arse

Fabio sets 2010 target Monday 17 December, 2007

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fabio Capello has given his first Press conference as England manager and set his sights on meeting Italy in the Final of World Cup 2010.

The former Juventus boss begins his new job on January 7 after signing a four-and-a-half year deal worth around £6.5m last week.

“I have wanted this job for a long time and I know that there are great expectations that go with it,” Capello told the gathered journalists.

“My dream is to lead England to the World Cup Final in 2010 and to meet Italy there.”

Capello spoke via a translator, but he is planning to improve his English so that he is able to communicate freely before England’s February friendly with Switzerland.

“I am convinced that in a month when the squad meet up for the first time I will be able to speak English,” the 61-year-old explained.

“I believe that it is very important to communicate with players and I will undergo a strict routine to learn the language – I will apply myself every day.”

As for turning around the fortunes of an ailing side, Capello believes that the attitude has to change.

“I’m going to try and understand what happened by talking to the players,” he said.

“I believe that wearing the England shirt should be a matter of pride – I want to see all the players playing for their country like they do for their clubs.”

He did speak a slight bit of english,so he isnt a complete stranger to it.He might not master the language in a month,no one can do that, but he would be able to speak some broken English by that time.Enough to communicate with the players on a basic level atleast.I dont think any top level coach is a total stranger to English.Football has become too globalized for a coach who manages the biggest teams in the world to not have some basic knowledge of English.

i honestly hope the English fans... media & FA have little patience with him & boot him out before the World Cup qualification starts...

if he is given ample time... Capello might just work out the flaws & get them to be challengin' in the big tournaments...

Actually I was very impressed with his English as I could understand what he was saying unlike when Kenny Dalglish is speaking.

He seems like an intelligent man and it own surprise me if by then his English would have improved markedly.

Vialli's English is excellent, I was impressed with Zola's, pleasantly surprised with Paolo Maldini

Thats like saying the problems are not technical because they are.

The sad truth is that they are not enough good players to win tournaments in this country.

When all fit, the problems is not that we are leaking goals cos the defence is as good as anyone's in world football.

Its further than that, if you cannot control the tempo of a game, you invariably would not win big matches and we do not in this country.

No playmaker, not good enough depth once key players are injured and you take away Rooney and Owen and we are struggling for strikers of the highest calibre.

He cannot ask chariman to buy this or that player to iron out a few wrinkles and tactically I am not sure Capello has it in him to make average players better to the extent of winning cups.

We dont have the calibre of players he worked with at Juventus, Milan, Roma and Real Madrid and it would be very difficult for him to fight with a key player or drop him cos he would not have the alternative.

There is no benching Dp and playing Zlatan cos we dont have either, or dropping Ronaldo and Cassano to play Ruud and Raul as those options would not be open to him.

If he does it though then i am promoting him to greatest manager ever, no lie
