Puplic opinion was heavily stacked against Juve, and coupled with threats from FIFA and UEFA, Lega Calcio had no choice but to proceed along this path. Anything but a quick and rushed verdict would have resulted in a painstakingly long process which would have brought all of Italian football to a grinding halt while everything gets sorted out.

With the above fact in mind, Italian football stood to lose much, much, more if they allowed Juventus to fight these accusations and avoid relegation.
