Translation...nothing to worry about. The judges shot themselves in the foot already in 2006. The fact that they couldn't find specific proof of an infraction forced them to generally sentence the team based on the whole season. No matter what nothing can happen based on double jeopardy.

In any case, the referees being absolved directly aid Moggi in his appeals. Throwing more mud on them buys time and hinders Moggi’s objectives. The referees have already been absolved of having any illicit connection to a man yet to have proper evidence presented against him. Seriously why are they bothering?

Don’t lose sleep. The SIM card case will more than likely die on the vine based on everyone’s refusal to acknowledge that Moggi gave them anything. Only Bergamo (not a referee) admitted he received one and Moggi concurred. The referees have denied it and since no recorded calls exist between them and Moggi, it will be tough to prove wouldn’t you say?

In fact even the prosecutors are not entirely sure that the SIMs belonged to any referee. They are based on geographic assumptions. They can trace a SIM card based on the network the wave attaches to and if (I want to outline “if”) Moggi called a number that attached to say a Bari area network while Paparesta was in the Bari area it is assumed he called Paparesta. Concrete huh?


Granted we are talking about Italy here but come on. If this goes through on arguments like that even I would be surprised. I think the prosecutors will need to force a confession if any credibility is to be lent to this accusation. Good luck with that.

The truth is that Juventus are back in the CL and this could hinder their transfer approach which is likely among the objectives. Think about the timing. It also strangely coincides with our appeal in Rome in 3 weeks time.

Moggi is currently banned from football for five years after he was implicated in the Calciopoli scandal which rocked Italian football in the summer of 2006.

“It would make me happy if Moggi would call me and explain what truly happened in the last two years, because I don’t know," admitted Lippi.

Lippi’s remarks are not without timing. Moggi and 15 other people were called before court yesterday to answer charges that they broke article one of the Italian code for sporting justice.

Just over a year ago it was revealed that Moggi had supplied a string of referees and club directors with mobile phone SIM cards, contravening article one.

Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli denied the possibility that his club could be punished severely again due to what many are already calling 'Calciopoli II'.

In 06-07 the accusations aren't related to SIM Cards because Moggi was no longer there but they did try and create a buzz by revealing that he spoke with lawyers and judges in that period. Of course his explanation was along the lines of "no shit...I'm appealing the verdicts you fucks", and then it died down.

Then they claimed that he was still running Juve's transfer market because he was overheard speaking with Secco. That must explain Juve's excellent signings over the summer huh? That died too which is unfortunate because I'd love to hear the explanation regarding his phone STILL being tapped.
