Juve risk Calciopoli fine

Juventus risk a fine after 16 people were brought before trial in what has become known as Calciopoli II.

Before the 2006 World Cup it was revealed that former Bianconeri director general Luciano Moggi had supplied referees and club officials with telephone SIM cards.

Magistrate Stefano Palazzi is prosecuting the case on the grounds that article one of the Italian code for sporting justice was broken.

Juventus and Messina, as well as several referees, many of which are already suspended, have been called before Palazzi.

Article one determines codes of correctness and loyalty.

According to the Italian Press, Juventus only risk a fine, having already paid a heavy price for their involvement in the original scandal.

More delicate, however, is the case of Messina whose President Pietro Franza has been summoned for objective and direct responsibility.

“I have clarified everything,” rebutted Franza. “I am calm and remain at the disposition of sporting justice.”

"Coagulando senso e linea del club: la società ha già pagato per aver inquinato lo svolgimento del campionato 2004-05 per «una condotta continuativa» dentro la quale potrebbero rientrare anche la distribuzione delle schede fatta da Moggi. Ne bis in idem: non si può essere processati due volte per lo stesso fatto."

Translation...nothing to worry about. The judges shot themselves in the foot already in 2006. The fact that they couldn't find specific proof of an infraction forced them to generally sentence the team based on the whole season. No matter what nothing can happen based on double jeopardy.

In any case, the referees being absolved directly aid Moggi in his appeals. Throwing more mud on them buys time and hinders Moggi’s objectives. The referees have already been absolved of having any illicit connection to a man yet to have proper evidence presented against him. Seriously why are they bothering?

Don’t lose sleep. The SIM card case will more than likely die on the vine based on everyone’s refusal to acknowledge that Moggi gave them anything. Only Bergamo (not a referee) admitted he received one and Moggi concurred. The referees have denied it and since no recorded calls exist between them and Moggi, it will be tough to prove wouldn’t you say?

In fact even the prosecutors are not entirely sure that the SIMs belonged to any referee. They are based on geographic assumptions. They can trace a SIM card based on the network the wave attaches to and if (I want to outline “if”) Moggi called a number that attached to say a Bari area network while Paparesta was in the Bari area it is assumed he called Paparesta. Concrete huh?

Granted we are talking about Italy here but come on. If this goes through on arguments like that even I would be surprised. I think the prosecutors will need to force a confession if any credibility is to be lent to this accusation. Good luck with that.

The truth is that Juventus are back in the CL and this could hinder their transfer approach which is likely among the objectives. Think about the timing. It also strangely coincides with our appeal in Rome in 3 weeks time.

Don’t worry. As it is the verdicts they invented in 2006 won’t stand…if they were to create another heap of shit we’re ready. Last time GLMDJ didn’t exist and it took us a while to form and get going but if they fuck around now the appeal would be instant.

Lippi mystified by Calciopoli Friday 25 April, 2008

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

World Cup winner Marcello Lippi is asking for clarification on the future of Luciano Moggi, the disgraced former Juventus general director.

Moggi is currently banned from football for five years after he was implicated in the Calciopoli scandal which rocked Italian football in the summer of 2006.

“It would make me happy if Moggi would call me and explain what truly happened in the last two years, because I don’t know," admitted Lippi.

Lippi’s remarks are not without timing. Moggi and 15 other people were called before court yesterday to answer charges that they broke article one of the Italian code for sporting justice.

Just over a year ago it was revealed that Moggi had supplied a string of referees and club directors with mobile phone SIM cards, contravening article one.

Article one seeks to guarantee correctness and loyalty in the world of sport.

The Italian Press yesterday reported that Juventus could risk a fine despite spending 2006-07 in Serie B with a severe points penalty.

Bianconeri President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli responded quickly to the news, defending the Turin giants’ reputation.

“In this moment there are people trying to carry Juventus into something that has nothing to do with sport,” he claimed.

“We will defend ourselves if necessary at the right moment.”

Cobolli Gigli: Juve Already Paid For Calciopoli

Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli denied the possibility that his club could be punished severely again due to what many are already calling 'Calciopoli II'.

On Thursday it was announced that the most that the Bianconeri could suffer due to their implications in 'Calciopoli II' is a fine, since they cannot be punished again for the same crime according to law.

This was confirmed by Cobolli Gigli, who now wants to concentrate solely on the sporting side of the Old Lady.

"I have the highest respect for the investigation office and for the federal justice members, but we are convinced that we have already paid a high price," declared the Juve president.

"It's not the time to keep on paying, but instead that of concentrating on the sport," he added.

"If it will be necessary, we shall defend ourselves in the right moment and the right places," concluded Cobolli Gigli.

Moggi’s rejection statement from the TAR Regional Court actually stated that he managed to condition referees psychologically. PSYCHOLOGICALLY!

With no known phone calls between them it is safe to say that he utilized telepathy and since the referees favored Juventus but were no less absolved of having done so we can also assume that they were under hypnosis or better yet…drugged with all of the pharmaceuticals Juventus allegedly had until they were found not guilty twice.

My question is this; since they have eliminated the need for proof by stating that Moggi could condition others without speaking to them and without them knowing it…why are they trying to prove that the phone calls existed in another SIM system?

Does anyone else think maybe it’s just another heap of headlines in the face of the sports paper’s dead season?

What are the dates for this SIM card non-sense?

I remember reading accusations against Moggi that he was upto no good during the 06/07 season, which makes no sense for obvious reasons. Gsol, was that SIM card related also?

Juventus won't sue their sponsors and Moggi has no civil rights so he can't. I mean if Moggi got hit by a car he'd be charged with crossing the street.

In 06-07 the accusations aren't related to SIM Cards because Moggi was no longer there but they did try and create a buzz by revealing that he spoke with lawyers and judges in that period. Of course his explanation was along the lines of "no shit...I'm appealing the verdicts you fucks", and then it died down.

Then they claimed that he was still running Juve's transfer market because he was overheard speaking with Secco. That must explain Juve's excellent signings over the summer huh? That died too which is unfortunate because I'd love to hear the explanation regarding his phone STILL being tapped.
