Buffon set for Milan Monday 22 May, 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gigi Buffon will leave Juventus for Milan during the summer, insist reports in Italy on Monday morning.

The Italian international 'keeper has been linked with the Rossoneri for a few months now and a transfer seems on the cards.

Although any possible Juventus demotion would lead to his sale anyway, stories suggest that he had already decided to leave before the alleged match-fixing scandal broke.

Buffon was supposedly looking for a fresh challenge, especially as whispers allege that he doesn’t share a great feeling with boss Fabio Capello.

Milan would certainly seem to be a perfect fit for the shot-stopper given their problems in between the sticks this term.

Brazilian Nelson Dida hasn’t impressed and there do seem to be problems in negotiations regarding the renewal of his contract which runs out in 2007.

Although the two parties were set to meet in an effort to find an agreement, Dida has still not put pen to paper.

It’s unclear how much Juventus would want for Buffon who they signed from Parma in 2001 for a goalkeeping record of £32m.

Antonio Mirante is expected to be handed the gloves in Turin next term after he spent this season on loan at Siena.

Juventus are also understood to have netted veteran custodian Francesco Antonioli from Sampdoria on a free transfer.

Thuram will retire and Cannavaro is said to go to Milan. Once Buffon and Cannavaro go to Milan, they will become innocent and all the media will talk good things about them.

are they any juve players who havent been rumoured to leave for a milan club yet?? seriously, everyday the papers come out with such BS just to sell more and more and more.

teh way juve are going they will remain in serie A but all their players will be gone. We'll be left with no players and 200 million Euro in the bank to rebuild the team.

its getting stupid now!
