can we get other fuckin links than the dead french guy, the dead guy from sevilla or can who's really not proven? we're fuckin juve not inter. we need a quality signing in mid. i cannot believe we spent that much on bernardeschi (a luxury because of the big player selection we have upfront) but we choose to take bargain pieces for cm. berna money + 20 mils (can or matuidi money) + sturaro money + lemina money = a wc mid + his contract for 3 years

Lets say we buy him for 20 mil
Salary 5m per year
For 3 years
Leaves for free in 3 years
Thats 35mil u paying for matuidi and benching youngsters like bentancur and mandragora
Don't you think having knowledge and experience passed on from a Matiudi would be helpful for their development? I don't believe they are 1st team ready as of yet.

I would bet on 25-30 mil price tag for this guy, I never seen marotta actually surprising us and signing players for lower fees whenever the media throws out the highest fee that's generally what Marotta ends up paying.

To some extent I wish Marotta has a lower budget to deal with, that at least he'd be more realistic with his valuation to players.

When does he overpay? Name one team that gets netter deals than we do over the past 5 years

:howler: When does he overpay? Martinez, Zaza, Hernanes, Bernardeschi, Ogbonna, and Higuain are all examples of players we overpaid for. I'd also argue that we overpaid for Matri.
It's not really that funny, we have a global reputation for being miserly spenders on most deals to the point where we make jokes about it. You can't have it both ways. Also Higuain and Bernardeschi (filler) hardly deserve being on that list. I'd argue Hernanes and Zaza were barely worth mention either. It's a very small list, which says a lot for a club of our size. We're tight as fuck.

Any signing you don't like is overpaying.

Only one you mentionned that's a real overpaying is Higuain. Others are just signings that didn't pan out or current market values at the time.

It's about us making a mistake and buying players while thinking they are good enough for Juve. They weren't good enough for our level which instantly means they were overpaid, as they are worth like tree times less and are fit for mid-table clubs.

(talking about Martinez, Ogbonna, Hernanes)

They were bad signings, that does not constitute overpaying just on that alone in the market. Hernanes was 11m, thats NOTHING, Ogbonna was Azzurri regular who who was young, 13-15m is fairly normal sum.

Martinez was just wtf signing on all levels, but cant even remember his sum, 9-11m?

It was more of scouting/decision making issue then overpaying. I mean, we hardly felt the effect of those sums at all.

What we should have done is paid €5m for Jorge Martinez despite him easily being worth over €10m at the time, just in case he flopped hard. Catania should have done the right thing and considered this possibility.

Retrospective quantifying of transfers at the initial point is bollocks. If you were always against those moves then fair enough, but I'd say that is unlikely in most cases.

Player succeeds - much success
Player flops - overpaid

Doesn't work like that.
