Yes ofcourse. But that covers at most, 2 out of 5. The rest simply can't be put to miscommunication. Time is relevent, but when talking of the word of god can it really be a excuse?. Human hands of course will error, but on fundamental points it's not so believable.

An excuse? Perhaps not although it's all definitely open to interpretation.

What stands beyond doubt in my eyes, however, is that the modern Catholic Church is still caught up in the eras the Bible was written in.

Jae, If you want to read some interesting religous documents you should read about the non accepted gospels, you know those that the church doesn't accept coz they say that they are "against" the doctrines...

There are some interest stuff in there

Definitely. There are also gospels that are accepted, but not included in the Bible. I particularly liked the book of Thomas which is only included in very few versions of the Bible.

yeah there is... they mention it also in the novel "Da Vinci's Code" most of the things that are said on that novel is crap... but some of the crap is interesting crap if you look into it

Muslim, Jew, Christian... doesn't matter. There are those who hold on to ancient writings as fundamentalist truths, written by the hands of men but who were divinely inspired by God. And there are more of the interpretationists... those who see the kernel of truth in what was written, but also acknowledging that any writings are colored by the time, place, and culture of a civilization from which it came.

On the one hand, for example, you can beat up on Catholicism, saying that the religious traditions and mindset has become very irrelevant to the evolution of time, society, and human comprehension about the world. (Excommunicating Galileo for 500 years because he dared to suggest that the sun didn't revolve around the earth doesn't help your credibility a hell of a lot here, of course.)

On the other hand, one thing that attracts a lot of devout Catholics is that sense of culture and tradition steeped in 2000 years of history. It gives people a sense of continuity in changing times. There are a lot of folks who prefer Catholicism's "Jesus is on a pedestal" approach and reject the "Jesus is my drinking buddy" approach that many more modern Christian sects seem to take up by comparison. (It's also worth noting that Christianity started as a collection of a variety of hundreds of different kinds of sects -- each with wildly different beliefs, interpretations, and customs -- by about 300 A.D. Since then, Christianity did a lot to "purge" its many fringe sects.)

But even within just the example of Catholicism, there are people who take things far more traditionally and literally -- folks who lament the fact that the Mass is no longer presented in Latin. And there are Catholics who believe in women priests, gays being included and embraced by the Church, and a far less literal view of scriptures.

Religion comes in all flavors.

Someone has just helped me realize that I have said a rude, and offensive remark about Christianity.. For this, I sincerely apologize, and I hope anybody who was offended would be kind enough to forgive me..
