you ever get those bad teachers? in my case, she cant speak the language, very disorganized, spend way too much time in the begining of the course explaining the easy material. Where does that leave me? having to learn the new shit on nearly not enough time, and on time that needs to be spent reviewing

Yep! I've had my fair share of them! They're a pain in the proverbial. Because of their bad timekeeping, you end up having to do work at home instead of going out with mates.

Ive had this issue a number of times over the last 3 and a half years.Issues with them have ranged from not being good at English(which is something you expect in Pakistan, but still),absenteeism, and then simply not being good enough to teach the course. In particular, the guy who taught us Microeconomics was an asshole.I barely passed. But in my next semster I was lucky enough to have an incredible Macroecnomics teacher who cleared up my past concepts regarding Microeconomics, otherwise i would have failed the course for sure.

I have crap assistants nearly all the time. Lazy, not speaking or writing clearly, bad or no explanations... Most of my professors are good though.

I've got 2 right now and I really hate going to class because of them...they spend way too much time chatting about the syllabus and what's required I mean we know what the syllabus is as we all have copies and we clearly know whats required.........and when you ask questions its like they stumble and stutter all over the answers that they're trying to process and end with so yeah..
The students know more! omg.

what really drives me barmy about these 2 is that they give so many assignments and take ages to give them back.and i think by now the entire class has asked for our essays back.

Just try taking a higher level calculus course at a major university with a professor from Asia, and then you might have the right to bitch about it. Otherwise, boo-fucking-hoo.

No one here has a teacher as bad as mine. She is literally stupid. You would think that to teach at NYU you have to be at least competent. My teacher announced to our class that NYU has given her this great new laptop a while back but she has been 'afraid' of turning it off because she is not sure how to turn it back on let alone if it would turn back on. So today a student asked her if she received her email of one of our papers that was due. The teacher goes 'Oh no, I am sorry I turned my computer off on accident so I am not sure how to turn it back on if you could get me a hard copy that would be better"

Although at the end of the day I am not complaining, she loves me so I automatically get A's with almost zero effort. I just think its sad when I am paying for my education and we hire a professor who doesn't know how to turn her computer off and on. She was a communication major so I shouldn't be super surprised.

That's what I'm doing right now, man. My Biomechanics final is tomorrow and I'm cramming right now because these lectures he did at the end were really brief, but of course there was more to it than what he said there was.

Mine was Romanian, and he had this thick accent that was out of this world. So difficult to follow.

Really?I was always under the impression that Asians made great teachers, medical experts n stuff.Especially when it came to teaching in the west.

Surely she would have been joking about the laptop thing!I find that quite unbelievable.A university professor having issues with turning a laptop on.

Asian teachers are the worst. Maybe if they could lose the accent while gaining a grasp of the English language and learn to actually take an interest in students and not be so mechanical about teaching they would be good. Of course there are always exceptions.

No she wasn't joking. I am 100% sure about that. She doesn't even know how to post a powerpoint onto our class website. She only has her masters in Rhetoric and probably never has had to get into technology.

Interpersonal Communication type course. Its about how to have positive communication with your coworkers and family. Its just some free elective type course aka easy A.

But putting the laptop ignorance aside, wouldnt she need to be a good enough teacher to be at NYU?I can understand visiting teachers being incompetent, but not too many of permanent teachers.

She is an adjunct professor. She is not a full time faculty. She actually moonlights as a bartender. So no she doesn't have to be competent at all. She just has to fulfill the need of a useless class which she does fabulously.

had my fair share of these teachers back at high school, and i must say have even worse profs at uni now. they make courses sooooooooooooooo complicated that u get into depression cos u either feel lost in the contents of the course example: bio cheistry, phyto chemistry, botany... and the worest of all maths!!!! or no matter how hard u try to study u just find it hard to grasp the required information that will at least give u the passing grade.
