This has to be one of the worst line-ups imaginable. Even the 4-2-4 looked better than this bs.

Jorginho making his debut in this match?
Gabbiandini starting a match of this importance?

Sometimes I wonder how the Italian football federation hire all these shit names.

From Donadoni to Prandelli and then Ventura, you can't fuck up so many times in less than 10 years.
Not fair to lump Prandelli in with those other two. He was the best Italian NT coach after (04-06) Lippi IMO. Took Italy to a Euro final playing some very nice football along the way. They even played a decent Confeds too, just a shame about the BS red card Marchisio got against Uruguay in 2014, cause IMO they should have made the knockouts

Prandelli did have (a revived) Pirlo, Marchisio in great form and De Rossi as his starting midfielder. Along with Juve's solid back line.

Ventura's situation is quite different. Italy's current stars are in attack with Insigne, Belotti and Immobile. But the midfield situation is worrysome and the back line is aging.

Ventura has got quite some interesting players at his dispossal. Definitely better than what Conte had to work with and much better attacking players. Jorginho, Marchisio and Verratti in midfield isn't too shabby either. He had the perfect time to make a generation change, but he was too afraid to do so. But he still shouldn't have any problem knocking out Sweden. What he did last game was so pathetic it's unbelievable. He only used two subs. First one was Eder and a direct sub between Insigne and Verratti, who was playing in central midfield.

And let's not forget how people still were highly critical of the Italian nt back in 2012. Revisionism at its finest.

May be scrappy but I think Italy will do just enough score in the mid second half and then win it in extra time

Ventura stays Italy fail to win a game in Russia and go out group stage
