The player they are missing right now is Xabi Alonso, although results do stutter without Xavi as well. After 2014 they will play Xabi Alonso and Martinez and three AMs in front. Considering there is already Iniesta, Mata and Silva and then Thiago and Isco behind it doesn't really get any easier for the other teams.

I loved, loved, LOVED this man! Oh how Italy had amazing and admirable players unlike this pussy generation. After Gigi retires I doubt I'd care for Italy at all. BonBon and Chiello would be the only ones I'd root for.

De Rossi is a beast too, he inherited the inner monster from Gattuso, but in saying that, after De Rossi, I don't see any other players like him. Chiello certainly is a tough man-marker, but he's an out and out defender, in terms of defensive mid-fielders, Italy are pretty thin atm..
