Insigne is ready IMO. If Giaccherini, Candreva, Diamanti, and the likes of those players can be on the NT...so can the little man. Very dangerous player and would link up well with Balotelli IMO.

Florenzi is a great player too, massive potential. I hope to see him soon.

As for Verratti, as long as we have Pirlo he is not needed. And to be honest, Verratti is going to have to mature a bit and discipline himself a bit more before making the leap up. He makes many unecessary fouls and gets booked way to often. He also gets angry very easily. If he's the heir to Pirlo, he better be taking notes on how be a calm motherfucker like Pirlo.

that game was a heartbreak, but I think we will use this for motivation for next year. I have a very good optimistic feeling about the WC for Italy, I see big things coming.

As for yesterday, few things....
1. I feel we did a great job controlling the pace of the game, taking spain out of their ticky tacky bs for big portions of the game. Felt we sat back too much in the extra time and it almost cost us, but maybe we were out of gas...

2. Candreva played superb down the right wing, he has to become a regular on the NT, brings an element we don't have and that its crucial to spread the defenses and open up attacking runs for our CFs

3. I feel if we had Balotelli or even Quags, Pazzini, Osvaldo or DiNatale that we would have scored in the 1st half....


the funny thing about yesterday....arguably the 2 best keepers in the world..... and they couldn't save any PKs out of 14 taken...lol

The nt has certain, visible to all vulnerabilities, I believe the situation will go worse before it gets better, I dont see new CBs at Barza and Chiellini level coming, no new wing players and most of the forwards are great dribblers, but not as prolific.
What's disgraceful though is to see players like montolivo, selected only because of club bias issues, despite the huge quality CM pool.
hopefully this will teach some pps a lesson.
esp the marchisio haters, who compare his worst performances with the alternatives best.

Once Aquilani, Montoshito and Gilardino dont play for Italy ever again we can look forward to WC nect year. Balotelli was needed so badly against Spain we really missed him. That was the difference between winning and losing last night imo.

Decent effort in the end, Spain were there for the taking but missed chances and no real threat up front was the problem.

Spain's quality off the bench was very telling and changed the game for them in ET.

Obviously the conditions are not ideal in that part of Brazil and that'll be worth bearing in mind for team who play in the north east of the country next summer, it went down to walking pace for most of the last 40-50 minutes of the 120.

Shame for Bonucci, but his technique means he was always going to hit the ball high, it was just a question of how high. I'm quite surprised Italy got that far in the shootout, but all the other pens were very good. Buffon isn't the greatest penalty saver of all time, which has probably been the difference against the Spaniards overall.
