Italy go at least 10 deep in midfield and young. If Zaniollo can be healthy the sky is the limit in Qatar. Also Kean and even Pellegrini can add even more class to the team. Someone please name me an international team that can match our top 30.

Your version of facts are BS.

Gli Azzurri are a CB and G factory. Never ending supply. The spine of any great team
So are you predicting Italy to win the World Cup?

No that would be ludicrous. I’m predicting they will be one of the big favourites just like most of the big tournaments the last 100 years.
Italy and Germany , Brazil Argentina. Isn’t that how the international game has been since forever?
Well with covid-induced economy pain and the slow rotting of football, the standard of next World Cup will be even lower. Won’t be surprised if a team like Italy can play out an underwhelming final and then ‘gloriously’ win it on penalties.

As an ex-azzuri fan, im so happy that the last two major trophy that Italy won has been won by penalty. Because penalty is the fairest, most tactically sound, most modern, most skill-driven way of winning a final convincingly.
Kudos to the Italy team. Seeing that most of them play forSerie A, I would now also say that Serie A has the highest standard of football in Europe. In fact, from now on, all football games should just be made up of penalty shoot outs.

Straight to the point and avoid 90 mins of boredom.

I looked at the WC statistics over the years and based on that I have to agree that Germany, Brazil and Italy are far ahead of anyone else.

Semi-final appearances:
Germany 13
Brazil 11
Italy 8
Argentina 5
France 5
Uruguay 5
Netherlands 5
Sweden 4
England 3

Points based on 1-4 places (I gave 5 points to 1st place and 3-2-1 points to 2nd-3rd-4th place)
Germany 41
Brazil 37
Italy 29
Argentina 19
France 17
Uruguay 13
Netherlands 12
Sweden 8
England 7

On continental level, Germany are the rulers of Europe as well with 3 wins and 3 silver medals (Spain has 3 wins and 1 silver), while Argentina and Uruguay rule the Copa America, which has 3 times as many editions as EC (47 to 16), so it's not easy to compare. In conclusion, I'd say Germany, Brazil, Italy are the historical big teams with closest followers being Argentina.
Just a note, Brazil played less Copa America and before 1975~80 send a lot of times team B for it.

For instance, Pelé played only once, because the tournament was not seeing as worth of brazilian first team.

Just become something serious (not important here in Brazil, but at least worthy of first team and as a preparation for World Cup) in 1975 (and the name become Copa America, before was other). In this time (1975 until today), Brazil won 6, Uruguay 3 and Argentina 3.

Can anyone explain how the FIFA rankings represent the teams' actual strength? The were just updated:

1) Belgium - beaten by Italy at the Euros.
2) Brazil - ?
3) France - Sucked at the Euros, knocked out by Switzerland (which Italy beat 3-0)
4) England - Won against easy opponents at the Euros. Sucked against better opposition.
5) Italy - Won the Euros after facing England, Spain and Belgium. Unbeaten in 34 matches.

It represents a longer period than the month of Euros.

I think the rankings go back 4 years. Italy missed the last World Cup so that is likely the reason. Belgium #1 still seems high though. Everyone in the top 6 besides Belgium has made a final.

You are one of those folks who are easily influenced by what you read yet you have no clue what you are watching. I’ll bet you would fail an elementary level reading and comprehension test.

“Match of the century” Italy has won both. 1970 and 2006. See you in Qatar

Italy are definitely one of the prime contenders to win the World Cup. France will definitely want to defend their title and atone for their abysmal performance at the Euros. Germany may or may not be ready. Spain will be a threat. The Mouth Breathing Britbong Limey Cunts definitely have a chance. Who else am I forgetting? Portugal have lost a step or two and the Belgians aren't getting any younger.

I don't see any South American team being a threat.

Evidently, the Italians will need to focus on the task at hand and not fall prey to the hype. They obviously have weaknesses, but so does every other team not named France.

Forgive @Bjerknes He probably thinks Murica can win the World Cup - maybe in 2050 Andy :p :D

Muricans were saying 2020 in 1994. It's been slower progress than I expected tbh, but they have far improved fundamentals now.

They still have a long way to go, and they may never even win it. It's a matter of mentality, belief and experience. The Muricans don't have that winning DNA in this sport, not yet anyway. Also, if the team is a reflection of Murican society, then they might as well just give up for the next 100 years :b81: Come at me Fags :p

Also, Egypt won't make the World Cup and the Federation will blame Mo Salah.

I'd rate Argentina and Brazil among the favorites, surely as much as countries like Italy, Spain, England, Portugal and Belgium. Argentina f.e. recently didn't even call up Dybala, who'd be the national hope for most European teams.

I watched Argentina during the Copa, and they failed to impress me. They're incredibly predictable. As for Brazil, they're nothing special, unless Neymar decides to show up. The South American nations, notably Brazil and Argentina, have been quite pathetic since World Cup 2006.

Well during the Euros most teams, including many you mentioned, failed to impress me :D The talent Argentina and Brazil have in their ranks is serious, Id say Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Brazil and Argies currently have the best squads on paper.

Let me know when they are acutely a threat. Lots of hot air and “talk” as usual . They have 4 nice players at the moment. Let me know when they have 20 nice players.
