I think Conte left to become the coach of the National team. What do you guys think of this possibility? As much as it hurts me to see him leave Juve, if he is chosen as the next Azzurri coach it will help the healing. I feel he's the only coach that could really get everything out of the national team and make them winners again. Thoughts?

I don't think so, but people here are going to hate them even more, if true.

Former Italy midfielder Demetrio Albertini has revealed he will run for the FIGC Presidency.

Following Giancarlo Abete’s resignation in the wake of the Azzurri’s embarrassing World Cup exit, a position at the top of the Federation has arisen.

Carlo Tavecchio is thought to be the favourite for the job, but the ex-Milan man has admitted he will run for President.

“I have made a decision to apply for the position because I believe there is a possibility I can be useful for the Federation,” he told a Press conference.

“Recently there has been a huge change in the landscape of Italian football. I did not expect the resignations of Prandelli and Abete.

“But I have received many calls from people who have asked me to make myself available.

“To be President is going to require a gear change from myself, but I believe I can do it.

“We need to change things. We need to focus on improving youth players.

“We don’t need to copy the German model, but we can learn from their example.”

Whoever comes, I hope they really make the changes and differences rather than all talk and no action.

FIGC candidate Tavecchio's racist gaffe
By Football Italia staff

Carlo Tavecchio, set to become the new Federation President, was caught making an embarrassing racist gaffe.
The current President of the LND (amateur League) is the hot favourite to beat Demetrio Albertini in a vote for new President of the FIGC.
He put forward his proposals in a long and rambling speech today, but media have now picked up on an unfortunate turn of phrase.
Tavecchio was trying to suggest Italy adopt England’s system of players getting a work permit before they are allowed into the country’s teams.
“Welcoming is one thing, but playing football is another,” said the 71-year-old.
“In England they identify the players coming in and, if they are professional, they are allowed to play.
“Instead, here we say that any old Opti Pobà can come here, before he was eating bananas, now he’s playing in the Lazio first XI.
“In England the players have to prove their curriculum and pedigree first.”
