FIGC candidate Tavecchio's racist gaffe
By Football Italia staff

Carlo Tavecchio, set to become the new Federation President, was caught making an embarrassing racist gaffe.
The current President of the LND (amateur League) is the hot favourite to beat Demetrio Albertini in a vote for new President of the FIGC.
He put forward his proposals in a long and rambling speech today, but media have now picked up on an unfortunate turn of phrase.
Tavecchio was trying to suggest Italy adopt England’s system of players getting a work permit before they are allowed into the country’s teams.
“Welcoming is one thing, but playing football is another,” said the 71-year-old.
“In England they identify the players coming in and, if they are professional, they are allowed to play.
“Instead, here we say that any old Opti Pobà can come here, before he was eating bananas, now he’s playing in the Lazio first XI.
“In England the players have to prove their curriculum and pedigree first.”

:facepalm2:
 :lol2: WTF

"We thought that women were handicapped in calcio in comparison to men"- Tavecchio
fucking hell and add that to his past convictions of tax fraud, perfect candidate for figc president! in a time where the league needs drastic changes and there is not better time for change than now! yet those who support this prick are happy to stick with medieval ways of thinking :sergio:

no surprises why lazio's minala defended his racist comment, it was probably Tavecchio that got him his fake passport and birth certificate to begin with.

I think the whole racism thing is blown out of proportion.... and it's interesting to see what Tavecchio can bring to the table if he gets elected. It seems Berlusconi hates him so thats something ...

You have to think of the implications of having someone like Tavecchio representing Italian football has. Especially with these recent statements. I have always thought a president should be a former player, someone with authority that has played the game.

But Tavecchio has a point where he mentioned Albertini has been with the FIGC for 8 years and he hasnt done shit...
