We aren't doomed. We just need to hope that the players we have stay fit.
And there are very good chances of that with Khedira a player who is never injured,Marchisio who doesn't came from a very difficult injury and will need time for being fit and Pjanic who was never injured in the past.More ,we will be reinforced in January when Asa and Lemina will go to Afcon. So mighty Hernanes will step up and save us like a superman.

You gotta feel for Witsel. That sucks so much. Stay in Belgium until they terminate his contract. Then he can sign for Juventus for free in January. Juventus can give him his lost salary as a signing Bonus.

Insane way to do business by Zenit. Lol imagine coming to work when you just lost your company 20m?

But something too few of you are saying, incredibly embarrassing failure by us too, ridicolous for Marotta to leave it this late and fail completely. Completely exposed now with essentially Lemina and Pjanic being only reliable injury history wise midfielders we have.

I don't count Sturaro or Hernanes because they are crap for me.

More than 20 million. He also makes 3M net in salary.

As I said in an other thread, I'd really like him here. Would make me feel so reassured. And I believe, with his characteristics, he would be a very good fit for our midfield (complete midfielder, technically sound, adds physicality, mature age and good experience, good injury history and seems to have a really big hunger and motivation to finally play in a big team). I am really sad we didn't sign him, not because he is the awesome MC that would elevate us, but because I think he would add different characteristics we currently don't have.

Its a pity and a bad move from Zenith. No matter how much money you have, you don't burn money like this and keep and unhappy player.

How can you blame zenit? They are not forced to sell their players. It's our fault to leave it that late... maybe we waited to long for matuidi or so ... if zenit couldn't find a replacement why sell a starting mid ?

I think people are blaming them because they released the player to come to Turin and have a medical... only to squash the deal at the very last minute.

Zenit are SOO stupid it's not even funny.
Witsel was in Turin since 10am,done medicals, contract ready, everything in place for announcment, then Zenit fucked up everything because Lucescu asked for a fucking replacement.

1.Then why you made a deal with Juve?If you wanted to find a replacement first, don't make the deal, don't tell the player to go to Turin.
2.Why let you player go to Turin and wait there all day long?
3.Make him miss his NT match.
4.Lose 18M+bonuses.

WOW,they so dumb.

Now he'll go back there clearly pissed off and sign with us in January.
They got pissed player with ZERO motivation to play for them + got ZERO euros after paying for him 40M.

Stupid fucks.

Zenit aren't the only ones to blame of course, Marotta should've wrapped him up days ago, but it's still a dick move by them.

I think it's just Marotta's style, he always wants to get the best deal possible. But sometimes it's not worth the hassle. Then again, if other clubs see that we can we bullied into paying more then it would happen all the time.

It was a different thing if they told us to fuck off like PSG did for Matuidi. I'm fine with that.
Zenit agreed for a deal in principle and even let Witsel take a medical and then backed out at the last minute today. That is totally unprofessional behavior and you cannot blame our management for that.

Exactly!
If there was no deal, and Witsel wasn't in Turin all is good.
But THEY ALLOWED him to,and had a deal with Juve.

Sure but we don't know every details. Maybe they tried for a replacement just to be denied too in the last second. If we hadn't wait till August 29 or so it deal with them

Zenit are as pissed at Benfica as we are at them. Deadline day is a puzzle, they had to let Witsel come here for the medical cause they were counting on that Benfica player.

That deal fell through and they had no cover.

Perhaps it is a blessing in disguise. Funds can be used for somebody better and then Wiesel can be a free backup. I'll take that.

Still not happy with the midfield choices though, we're going to struggle if Pjanic goes out.

As I said Zenit done goofed but it wasn't their fault really. They couldn't get a replacement and got cold feet.

We royally fucked up because despite having a lot of pulling power, and plenty of cash we couldn't find a single decent midfielder to come to us after selling Pogba and our squad looks a bit fucked in the middle of the park when you take in to account shit bench players like Hernanes and injury prone midfielders everywhere.
