Fabregas had 1 team after him when he was ejected from Barcelona. He is a 'top' CM deemed surplus to requirements in Barcelona and replaced with Rakitic. He hasn't set the world alight at Chelsea either.

This team is literally maxed out in Italy, in fact it's almost unplayable - so there is literally only one target left - CL glory! Isco is a star player, James even better top top class player, Varane WC CB, Carvajal very good RB and finally Kovacic a top talent. And all these players spent time on the bench alot lately (or, rotates with each other).
So yeah being on Reals bench or being unwanted by them doesn't diminish your quality. As many clubs who got their cast offs in past decade can attest to. From as far back as Samuel and Cambiasso to Sneijder, Robben, Özil, Higuain, Di Maria to our own Morata.
