and let SA go through to lose against Germany 8-0
Oh and about that...true that 2002 was a disaster for us, we Saudis all know the reasons behind it...but unfortunatly cant do anything about it...but since you brought it up and wanna talk numbers then please lets!!

I don't remember Iran ever passing the first round. I wish they do, after all its all for the good of Asian football. On the other hand SA qualified to the second round in their first appearance in 94, only to be beaten by sweden 3-1. Not only did they qualify but they amazed football fans around the world and particulary Saeed Al-Owairan, where he scored an amazing goal against Belgium with a run from the middle of the saudi field...I am sure lots of members remember that goal!!

And please dont let me get into the Asian Cup, cuz I dont remember Iran winning it in my time walking on God's earth!! while we won it 3 times...and i am only 23 years old!

You are Iranian and I am Saudi, we both know that IranXSA matches are the derbies of west asia...and I am sure that you fear and respect us as much as we do...So please do not belittle a team that you know is capabable of doing serious damage to yours!!

this is the full history of both iran and saudi in WC finals
Iran
25-JUN-98 MONTPELLIER (France) Germany vs. Iran 2:0 (0:0)
21-JUN-98 LYON (France) USA vs. Iran 1:2 (0:1)
14-JUN-98 ST. ETIENNE (France) Yugoslavia vs. Iran 1:0 (0:0)
11-JUN-78 LA PLATA (Argentina) Peru vs. Iran 4:1 (3:1)
07-JUN-78 LA PLATA (Argentina) Scotland vs. Iran 1:1 (1:0)
03-JUN-78 MENDOZA (Argentina) Netherlands vs. Iran 3:0 (1:0)

SA
11-JUN-02 YOKOHAMA (Japan) Saudi Arabia vs. Ireland Republic 0:3 (0:1)
06-JUN-02 SAITAMA (Japan) Cameroon vs. Saudi Arabia 1:0 (0:0)
01-JUN-02 SAPPORO (Japan) Germany vs. Saudi Arabia 8:0 (4:0)
24-JUN-98 BORDEAUX (France) South Africa vs. Saudi Arabia 2:2 (1:1)
18-JUN-98 SAINT-DENIS (France) France vs. Saudi Arabia 4:0 (1:0)
12-JUN-98 LENS (France) Saudi Arabia vs. Denmark 0:1 (0:0)
03-JUL-94 DALLAS (USA) Saudi Arabia vs. Sweden 1:3 (0:1)
29-JUN-94 WASHINGTON DC (USA) Belgium vs. Saudi Arabia 0:1 (0:1)
25-JUN-94 NEW YORK/NEW JERSEY (USA) Saudi Arabia vs. Morocco 2:1 (2:1)
20-JUN-94 WASHINGTON DC (USA) Netherlands vs. Saudi Arabia 2:1 (0:1)

So Iran got 4 points from 6 games
Whereas Saudi Arabia got the same No from 10 games

Regardless the No of points they got, SA showed up more in WC finals and that’s an advantage for them in comparing with Iran

Look, everyone, this isn't a thread about which team cheats, or has abramovic money, or which country is best.. (I love all Muslim countries.. I really do).. So how about we forget about all this mess and concentrate on the matches, huh..?

I would say Iran is stronger than any Arab team for the moment. After all, third place in the latest Asian Cup is pretty good. Regarding the comments about the dirtiness of Arab teams by some Iranians at these forums, I'd like to say Iran and other Asian teams also has this tendency and it's nothing unique to the Arabs. Have you already forgotten Iran - China (China being the dirty one here) in the AC and Iran - Australia in WC 98 Qualifiers, where Abedzadeh spent more time on the ground than he did saving shots? ;)

    100% true ;)
I remember and I hate that.but many things has changed until that time.I still say this is the STYLE of Arabic football.

yes, they celebrated with SA flag.but we got revenge and I hope Kuwait beat them too.
    Huh

So whats you ganna do in 2006 WC ?

Qualifying to the 16th round as KSA did !!

at Least KSA qualified 4 time in a row. which can be a proof that they are much better than a team need to feels the qualifying celebrations each 10 years.

Were you really that surprized? and Why?

KSA and Bahrain are neighbors and they have so many ties (Saudi Currency is even accepted in most places in Bahrain!). Wouldn't you be happy for your brother if he accomplished something important? I would. Bahrainis did. I was very touched by the gesture.

Bahrain DEFEATED Iran 3-1 and held their friends and brothers' flags. Where's the problem?

Point is. Iran could not beat Bahrain, whether Bahrain were playing for themselves or for KSA. If a team deliberatley LOST to favour some other team, then the disadvanteged team can make a case (or at least their fans can).

    ..........

Congrats to those countries that made it, and hard luck to the rest.

    .........
    BTW, good reply Rami.
