I just wanted to contribute because I read through this thread out of curiosity and think there is some confusion. I don't think there are many (always a few) Utd fans who are certain that this transfer will happen, I see a lot of Juventus fans seem to take issue with this, it is definitely not the case. The reason that there is a deal of excitement I think comes from the fact that we view him as such a brilliant player and he happens to play in the position that we most need improvement.

The transfer is extremely unlikely but there is bound to be excitement when we see even the most mild links.

The truth is, you would struggle to find a player of note who has not been linked to us at some point this summer as the press have clearly picked up on our willingness to spend but until there is anything concrete it is all just speculation but that's half the fun!

Sure. I guess it depends what you define as an incredible offer. The highest amount I've seen reported that Juve want is 60m euros. The lowest I've seen reported in 32m pounds which is 40m euros. I guess the clubs will haggle for something in between.

Last summer, when Chelsea wanted Rooney, United stated clearly that he wasn't for sale at any price. Juve could have done that publicly already, but they haven't yet. That just encourages rumours like these.

The other rumour is that Vidal is especially keen to come to Manchester United, and not somewhere like Real Madrid. Obviously, just a rumour that may be rubbish. I have no idea how attractive PSG may be to him, and of course they could offer more money but they've already splashed 50m on David Luiz and have some FFP restrictions put on them (which they may decide to ignore completely).

The other thing helping English teams is that the pounds to euros conversion is very healthy right now. That may influence the market this summer.
The fact is man utd haven't even made an offer after their enquiry was shot down by the Juve management first time of asking

One thing I would say, if our starting bid is honestly going to be 32 Million, I hope Ed Woodward has thick skin because even I would laugh at that after watching PSG's 50 Million (Yes 50 Million!) pound defender against Germany.

I think you Juventus fans have to be realistic. Vidal Would like to join the EPL as it's more successful league. Too much match fixing in Serie A and Vidal no doubt feels like it's not much of an achievement winning titles with Juventus buying the refs. All that money spent on bungs could have been spent on world class signings it's a shame to say this, but I can see Pogba leaving for Chelsea and Vidal to Utd.

:delpiero:

One of the main conditions if not the only one for Conte staying on Juventus bench was a competitive roster, and just two months after that the club will sell 2 of our best players to Chelse and UTD, riiight
but your post is epic, congrats.

there was a time when I didn't dislike Man U fans quite as much as I do now. You used to only hear the 'match-fixing, referee buying' jabs from Chelsea and Arsenal fans, but as it turns out, you're all as ignorant as one another.

There was a time, a lengthier time in fact, when Serie A ruled supreme but there wasn't the level of arrogance shown by this league, as is being shown by the EPL fanbase and it's biased media. These kinds of things are cyclical though, there'll come a time when the foreign owners will grow tired of their play things and it'll all come crashing down on your heads. Enjoy your time at the top, that's all I'll say.
