Looking at Van Gaal's time in Munich and how he benched the previous seasons golden boot winner for a teenage attacking midfielder (Toni for Muller) it really is impossible to predict!

I don't think we are finished buying, some fans will tell you we are odds on to sign Di Maria, Vidal and Hummels (the same ones who thought we would sign Ronaldo last summer ha). If I had to guess I think we will bring in Vermaelen, Carvalho and one of the younger Dutch players (most likely Blind).

I think it will end up being 4-3-3 mostly with Rooney being somewhat sacrificed as either left of a front three or back up to Van Persie. I don't mind Mata playing on the right and coming inside.

Ideally we would sign Di Maria to give us width on the left in place of Rooney but no matter how many links there are I don't see the man of the match from the Champion's League final moving to a club with no European football.
 i was more thinking of Van Gaals ability to make the best out of all his players. he showed on this World Cup that he can and is willing to change formations so he can field the best possible lineup. he is not someone who is gonna draw a formation and buy players to fit it. he looks at what he has, makes a clear plan, finds a way to make all the best players function and buys players that would fit in his plans. if he feels that a player isnt fitting right into the team, and is slowing down the flow of the game with his performances, he will bench (and eventually sell) him. that goes for Rooney and RVP too.

im really curious to see first, who else will he get and second, how will everything look next season. since there is no CL or EL they can fully concentrate on the EPL and a top 4 finish is a must imo...

Yeah in that way he is the anti-Moyes, Moyes was terrified of upsetting any of the star players from his first day. I honestly think if his wages were not so high that no one would take him that Rooney may of been shown the door this summer.

I think we will end up 3rd or 4th, Liverpool are doing a horrible job preparing for life without the Cannibal in my opinion and I am waiting to see with Arsenal because so far they are strengthening the wrong areas. Chelsea look very strong and City buying a good Goalkeeper is important because I don't rate Hart at all.

I would be okay with us signing no one if it meant that we promoted a few young players and gave them a chance. I think sometimes we have cost ourselves by holding young players back. If we had not been so hesitant to bring them through we might of still had Pogba and Rossi with Pique at the back!

I imagined as much, Nani to you guys just seems to be one of those links that persists with no concrete proof of any interest. Every summer here he gets linked to Juventus but you are right, he would ask very high wages especially considering the pound/euro exchange currently.

We have a great winger called Ashley Young who I think would look great in the black and white if you have any interest? :hellyes:

I will carry him to Turin myself!
meh i lost interest in ashley young after he moved to aston villa.

Juventus were linked with Nani... summer after summer cause when Conte came he said "oh Gods if i had a top player like Nani..." 3years passed. Nani is a deadwood and he is just 27yrs old. Juventus were in for Nani when he was running out of contract. Once he got it renewed we were out. Cause you can make a bet if you pay 5m but 15 for someone who hasn't shown but decandence in the past 2 years is not worth. Specially with the wages he's getting every week after the renewall

Well City pay good money so.

Anyway, if a bid north of 55m came in I think we should take it. No player is irreplaceable especially for us since we're stacked in midfield. Getting a massive cash injection every now and then is not such a bad idea. Some teams have done even better when they sold their star for big money and invested it wisely.

If we sell Vidal for something close to 60m this year and a few years down the road we'll sell Pogba for something around 70m this team will be set for the next 10 years. The big issue is obviously not making it the norm to sell players and become like for example Roma whos players force themselves outta there because they see Roma as a stepping stone to something bigger. Let the market and players understand that we're not a selling team but if we do sell you're going to have to offer us a ridiculous amount of money.
