Once I was in an accident. Sober and all. No one got injured but the experience sure gave me a shake. I would never have forgiven myself if anything happened to my kids. To drive while drunk is just inexcusable. Hopefully Vidal learns from this episode. He should also take the necessary punishment if it was him driving.

He is so lucky that that he didn't injure himself, or more importantly, any innocent victims out there who could have been seriously hurt or killed because of his stupidity and irresponsibility.

I love him as a player, but what a fucking moron. An absolute moron. The damage he could have caused because of this.

Our firm deals with drunk drivers daily. The financial and more importantly human damage they cause is immense. I won't point any fingers at Vidal, because A LOT of people drink and drive. But I can't condone it either.

:agree:

majority of people out there do drive under the influence, the hypocrisy here is that rather than deal with the over-commercialization of liquor, which is the real cause, we go for the consumer.

Just because a lot of people do it, doesn't make it right.

And if this comes across as someone who has been directly affected by the recklessness of a drunk driver, you are correct.

Unless there is another person on this forum who saw one of their best friends die in their arms when they were 16, because he happened to be on the left side of the sidewalk

It's a very difficult subject IMO. The funniest part of it all is that alcohol leads to you making bad decisions. But we ask of people who are under the influence to make the right decision in choosing not to drive. I can honestly say I have never driven a vehicle while drunk. But I've seen so many in my environment do it that I cannot really judge Vidal for it either.

Of course it's not right. I can't say I agree with it or that I think he should not be punished. Clearly drinking and driving is not acceptable. But people tend to go into overdrive and make drunk drivers out to be murderers, while the truth is lots of people drink and drive.

of course it's not right, but legislation is silly here, the obvious solution would be to curb commercialization

it's difficult because drinking culture in engrained so deep; drinking ought to be highly regulated, i mean not to sound too cliche but in what rational world is weed illegal but alcohol, not.

The awful part of it is that Vidal does not strike me as an asshole or anything. Just a regular guy who likes to party. But because he has the Ferrari and the money he probably goes a bit overboard.

Whenever I've been to Florida I've always been amazed how prevalent drink driving is, i.e. walking out of a club stumbling around and driving off, next to no cops around to pounce on people. Over here it is very frowned upon, I've even seen people get into fights over it.

I'm sure there are enough people who risk it after 2-4 pints down the pub, I know one guy who did it a few weeks back.

I've always thought he was a bit of a man child, the Chilean Peter Pan. Nice enough guy but someone who acts first and thinks later.

Culture is changing here too. I'd say the majority of people I've represented for drinking and driving are over 40.

He fucked up, and nobody got hurt. Should be a lesson learned, he should get the appropriate punishment and shit should be left at that. No need to verbally bash the man and question his integrity.

I think he done this on purpose so that his stock comes down therefore he can force his way out and join his dream club Arsenal on the cheap.
