Vidal answers his critics. And that inquiry from United…
On Sunday afternoon Arturo Vidal silenced all the critics and reestablished himself at Juventus. He can be lethal, poisonous and a thorn in the side of his opponents. He scored and told his critics to keep quiet, especially those who expected a sale in January after some late nights partying and a knee injury that caused some issues.
For Juventus there never was and there currently isn’t an issue with Vidal. It’s just a problem for those who have to face him on the pitch. Certainly the off field issues weren’t appreciated and nobody likes those, but they never impacted his performance on the pitch. This is why Juventus directors Marotta and Paratici never considered the idea of selling him, one that could be described as punitive. Those who want him (and could want him in the future) will have to present an offer you can’t refuse.
Last summer, despite thousands of rumors, the only real contact with Manchester United happened at the end of the mercato, during the negotiation for Chicarito. Juve wanted the Mexican striker on loan with option to buy, before Real Madrid acquired him. “Why don’t we do a permanent sale? How much would cash would you want for Vidal considering we value our player 20 million?” was United’s offer. In Turin they thought about it a bit and stated 60 million.
This was a sarcastic answer to essentially say they didn’t want to sell him. It was too much even for a club like Manchester that wasn’t concerned with spending on the transfer market. Since that day there has been silence. The same silence that an angry Vidal is demanding, he only wants to talk on the pitch.
