You can't count the hypothetical value of Sissoko six months before he was purchased and the money we never payed for Aquilani, and then completely disregard the value of Pazienza and especially Pirlo had they not been free transfers, as little as it may be.

In any case, you are right that at the moment the market value of Aquilani+Sissoko+Melo will be higher than the market value of Pirlo+Pazienza+Vidal.
I am worried how our midfield is formed. Pirlo comes from a long injury. At his age, with the injury and considering how off form he was in the last years, what will we do without him? Will we play 4-4-2 with Vidal and Marchisio and if we do, will that midfield be any better than what we had after Calciopoli? It will be much more mobile but we lack the most in creativity and I don't see us improving there.

We got Aquilani for free, but the guy is still rated, Pool bought him for 20mil and they still rate him as such (17-18mil at least)
Thats his actual market value, you cannot compare him with Pazienza, who has a transfer value of 3-5mil, taking for free dosnt mean he is worthy of 0euros though.Just nowhere near Aquilani's value. Hopefully this and my previous post explains what i meant.

Your mind works in mysterious ways. I'd prefer to go with the actual level of the player rather than transfer value, if we are going to look at it this way. Pirlo for example would have a low value because of his age, but not many would pick the '€18m' rated Aquilani over him. Vidal and Melo could easily be of a similar price and technical level, as you are including the value of Vidal with 1 year left against Melo having signed a long term contract.
