You sound like a FIFA World Player of the Year judge from Guam in your definition of top class footballers, they can only be attackers?

and you sound like someone who cant differentiate between influential and 'better', you cant compare players from different positions. Vidic with a team of average players will not accomplish as much as zlatan with a team of average players. That's influence on results, and this is how fottball is, players on the offensive end will have more of an impact on the game, unless its an out of this world player on the defensive end, which vidic isnt.

Of course you can compare players, based on stature and how they perform.

Conte, more influential than Del Piero. Better than Del Piero? No. Keane, more influential than Giggs. Better than Giggs? No.
