Checked to see if it’s a real quote seeing that not many are reporting it but seems to be legit from this article/interview he did the other day.

Not looking very promising so far unless we just do a dry loan and cover most of his salary ourselves…

However there’s reportedly still some interest from Arsenal tho, hopefully we work something out with them.

it wouldn't make any sense to cover any part of his salary.
With a dry loan we're already losing 15m which is his deprecation cost.
Covering his wages as well would be useless beside freeing a physical spot.
At this point if we can't get rid of Arthur freeing at least his full wages we can't get Paredes even on loan.
Paredes which gets 7m/year net

It comes down to demand and how much Valencia want him/what they can afford.

It doesn't sound like many teams want him and the management might take the view that getting a few million in and putting him in the shop window by playing regularly is a better option than us paying his full wages and sitting on the bench all season.

I'd still be disappointed if we don't get a loan fee, a good salary contribution and an obligation but it is maybe too much.

Funny thing is that's probably the best deal we will get

At least this way he can showcase in lethargic Spain league and maybe next season someone will loan him and we only have to pay 50% of wages

At this point, don't you just keep him and bury him on the bench so he misses the WC. And use this as a warning shot to the next failed signing that doesn't want to move?

80% wages is fucking pointless.

Might make sense if he was on a one year contract but the dude is signed up till 2025. If we have any chance to play him inn Spain, the one league where he might be useful, then we should do it and hope he, somehow, manages to impress someone enough to sign him in 2023
