Taken from the Allegri's thread:

I've been thinking about the whole thing and that's exactly what I've come into. I didn't buy the 'he lacked motivation/wanted the NT job' thing. To me it's clear as day he reacted impulsively when he found out we lost out on Iturbe and he's fallen out with the board. He said he's leaving and then there was no turning back from this decision. Iturbe wasn't that important but he was the icing on the cake it seems. It could have been Morata or Jovetic as well. Conte probably felt he's not going to win his fight with the board and decided to give up.

The problem for the board was Conte's role grew with time so they couldn't control it anymore. He bitched about everything to the press as this was his only weapon to put some pressure on the board. I'm sure Conte's personal objective was to take a managerial role in the club like in EPL so he could be our 'Sir Alex'. Agnelli never wanted to allow that to happen it seems.

In the end those who put the blame on both sides were right. My opinion on this is: Conte was selfish to leave the fans and his players like this even though I understand he was pushing for the good of the team.
Tbh I don't understand Agnelli here. He always gives EPL as an example to follow but he's so reluctant to make Conte the manager. IMO Conte has done very good and he deserved to have managerial power in transfers as he's the coach and not the board. Agnelli should give him the budget and let him sign his targets with it, allowing for sales to rise the club's budget if he felt he needed to.
Agnelli calls for changes in Italian football but he's reluctant to make them in his own backyard? I think it was a mistake to let Conte go because we won't get a coach as good anytime soon who had such a strong backing from his players and fans. I'm pessimistic about the direction we've just taken. I'd much more rather Conte to become the manager and let him pull the strings within the budget. Only time will tell if AA was right with his choice though.
Great post agree 100%

Not only losing on Iturbe but losing on him to your strongest rival after losing on a very long list of players transfer window after transfer window. Really now, who is there to blame for his deoarture other than Marotta and Agnelli? The only thing missing is that they come and say it lword by word so everyone would understand it.

Is the timing he took wrong? Of course it is but I don't blame him, he's had enough.

So if they had simply outbid Roma to get Iturbe for a total north of 30 million that includes 30% commissions to the agent that allowed said agent to retain partial control, you would have been happy? Without the hindsight of knowing that this was the last straw for Conte.

I was never with the transfer of Iturbe for those sums but Conte sees it in a different way, he wants resources to start preparing the team and Marotta hasn't done anything so far. It's a pattern we've seen every transfer window, he's a slow negotiator. It makes me feel that he is so fucking boring that the seller intentionally raises the prices to get rid of him.

It ain't pretty. But we'll move forward. This was always coming - just a question of when.
Oh hell yeah we will do....but the issue here is that is not only a question of when.. bu also a question of how.

While i agree that letting conte go in this precise moment is NOT GOOD no matter how you twist it.... i think that from a managerial perspective... it would have been a mistake to give Conte this powers. Why?, because it is very clear that Juventus finances are in much more delicate state than it seems...and if everything was left in Conte´s hand... he would have gone rampant in buying his prefered targets no matter the cost. I think this is when the discrepancies arised.

Still, i dont like the way we have been losing targets.... but seriously guys.... Verona wanted 30 FUKIN MILLIONS FROM US... just because we were Juve.... but just look at how much they sol iturbe for ROma. 22 mils + bonuses.
We would have been ripped so hardcore. Thats what u want guys?.

Exactly. Just look at how Verona reacted : "Damn..juve didnt fell for it.... well ful it sell it to Roma at the real price."

I think that its not only Marotta issue here. It seems that every fuking team wants to rip us on sales like Iturbe.... but at the ame time we are heavily outbidded in targets like Sanchez. We simply cant compete.

It pains me to say it... but right now our name Juventus, our fame and legacy..... is just TOO BIG in comparison with the economical power this team has. This is seen mercato after mercato.

And the cherry on top? shifting the balme of losing on iturbe to us being juve, and not incompetence
I think i was very clear. Sanchez was not available before the WC. I hope you are not in the group that is still in denyal abotu this.

Iturbe for 22 mils was a very accessible price. But our numbers were reaching the 30 mils. Care to explain me why we needed to splash that money?. Without the hindsight of knowing what conte was going to do of course.
