Yeah it's strange. It seems we don't have a different plan when we go goal down, team doesn't up the intensity, o speed change, just nothing. We go doing the same business as if it were 0-0. This time it almost worked, we almost salvaged a draw, which would have been a positive result in the end. But thinking of the long term, IMO, this won't do in the future. We can't expect to loose a goal against a top side like Chelsea, Bayern, Real, barca or any other team in CL and expect to get positive results every time without any change of plan accordingly to the situation.
To me it seems we have one plan (which works most of the times in Serie A), we go out and play our game, no matter what. The problem is that this slow game is not enough in Europe, and against top teams it's 50/50, which isn't enough if we want to win something.
I was a bit comparing yesturday us with RM, well we intercept the ball and our first pass is to look for Pirlo or a defender, who usually are behind the ball, and their second pass is to slow the tempo down, while the opponents gets back into position and then we try to move slowly forward. When RM get the ball they have one two passes and they are in the opponents half. Now everyone will say we lack the personel (which I agree), but every single time doing this is not down to personel but to a very cautious coach. That makes us very predictable and boring (not in a good way).
Apart from the coach unwillingness to mix things up and try to catch the opponents off guard, maybe it has something to do with Pirlo? He's still class and can do some wonders, but maybe he is not able to increase the tempo of the big game anymore?
