Then I don't know football. If you outplay opponent and loose then my logic is flawed.
The point is that we were not as bad as some make it sound. We played good football for the majority of the game and created more chances in the process, some really harder to miss, like Marchisio's one for instance. Minimum loss with a scored away goal is leaving us a with a good chance to reach the final. At JS it will be a different game, you can bet on it.

Going by the comments one could think that we lost with 5 goals margin without ever getting out of our own half. It's semi final, what did some of you expect?

Conte will never win us the CL if he is afraid of taking corners.
THIS!!! Our corners suck dick!! And whats even more annoying is how our opponents corners are more dangerous than their free kicks...

like a year or two back, when our team sucked at scoring penalties, Conte should train our squad to do something with our corners... Not the stupid short corner and then passing it back to our goalkeeper... its annoying as hell

No, the point is we played worse and were outplayed by our opponent, with blunders included.

Imagine a chess match where one chess player blunders last move and loses and after that says he outplayed the oponent? If we didn't win we didn't outplay our opponent, because our blunders are included in our overall performance.

I could be more understanding if this was an isolated incident, but our blunders are now part of our european game, which makes statements like we outplayed our opponent but lost laughable.

P.S. I'm not talking that we don't have anymore chance, because we do, but for that we will need to actually outplay our opponent for the whole 90 minutes or more to pass through.

Only a child can use such logic as badass did.

again point out to me how we were out played? but hey if you don't want to thats fine, just don't call me out our stats were superior to benfica's in every sense. our passing success rate was even better than benfica's, half the time they couldn't even work the flanks without playing it out of bounds

yeah we were so outplayed.... http://www.whoscored.com/Matches/819742/Live/Europe-UEFA-Europa-League-2013-2014-Benfica-Juventus

being out played is different to actually losing. I honestly don't believe we were outplayed and neither did we deserve to lose

Benfica 2 - 1 Juventus.

Please explain how is being outplayed different to loosing? because at the end of the day only one stat count and that is goals scored, and every team no matter what tactics they are playing, they are playing for that stat and that stat only.

so if a team were to have the majority of the chances, shots, possession yet loses by a goal you consider that as being out played? :howler:
You mean if one had 99% of possesion and zillion passes and then lost to a counter or one single lapse of concentration? I would say the team that won outplayed the team that lost. It's quite simple, not sure what you don't understand here.

This is where we see things differently. Creating a dozen chances and failing to score at least once, while losing with an odd goal I can't see like anything other than a bad luck. Not implying that was the case last night btw.

A team who dominates most of the game and largely in control of the game cannot be possibly called a team that is out played because of one moment of luck to the opposing side. I still don't believe we deserved to lose last night, even at 1-1 we looked the more likely in taking all 3 points.

The errors of one player's stupidity does not suddenly mean the other 10 were out played

Football is a team sport, and it doesn't matter what one player done and the other didn't, all that matters in the end goals scored and goals conceded is all that matters, be it by luck or not. There is a saying that "luck always shines on the strongest", one needs to convert the luck into opportunities and results. Last night Marchisio, Chiellini couldn't do that and that is why we were outplayed.

We weren't outplayed, but it isn't as if we totally played them off the pitch.

They had 2 shots on goal, and we had something like 4. It was a calculated and professional performance from us, tainted by the defensive brain farts. However, we were not totally dominant, peppering their goal with shots, and wasting tons of chances.

That is why we lost the game, it's a different than being actually outplayed. I'm amazed that you persist with that simplistic way of thinking. Losing isn't equal to being outplayed, neither winning does automatically mean that the better side won. Yes, the result stands and it's what matters in the end, but we're not just seeing the final score of the game, are we? There's more to that.

So by same logic you would consider chelsea outplayed barca and bayern to win the clg in 2012 ???

And this is reasonable conclusion with which I tend to agree.
