The Juve side of the 90s is one of the greatest teams of all time, whether the 96 or 97,98 was the best one of them all, you can argue. While at a first glance, 97,98 had better individuals, they failed to win their most important match on both occasions, while 96 Juve did manage to win it and also against a much stronger opponent ( Van Gaal's Ajax ). It is not true that the CL success in 96 was luck, Juve totally outplayed Ajax in the final and could have won by 3 or 4 goals if wasn't for some shocking misses. In addition, you really can't compare Lippi with Conte , Marcelo is one of the best managers of all time, while Conte has only won two Scudettos without having much competition really.
Comparing the current Juve side with the one from the 90s is laughable, I reckon only Buffon and probably Pirlo could make it into that team . 96 Juve had Ravanelli, Del Piero and Vialli in attack, while current Juve has Matri , Qu, Giovinco and Vucinic.

Defence was much better back then ,too. Toricelli alone is better than all our defenders combined . As for CL being easier to win in the 90s - well not really, because you had to be a domestic champion to even get a chance to participate and also there was a restriction on the number of foreigners you could field. Now any rich team can buy whoever they want and thus make a strong team artificially.
