“Is it a difficult time for us? If I look at the table, then I’d say no,” assured the Coach who begins a two-game touchline ban for insulting the referee.

“If I see we are through to the Champions League knockouts and reached the Coppa Italia semi-final, then I say no. We deserved more against Lazio, both home and away, despite the fact we used the Coppa to help players gain experience and get more playing time.
“A Coach cannot just look at the result. It can happen that you try to give your all, but then concede two goals with the only real chances. I am not worried. Apart from against Sampdoria, I was never unhappy with my team’s performance. Luck just isn’t on our side right now.
“I did not consider us favourites before and I do not see us like that now either. This Scudetto will be won by the best team, as it was last season. Napoli are our direct antagonists and strengthened in the January transfer window, so they have everything it takes to win the Scudetto.”
The Bianconeri were expected to strengthen over the January transfer window, but fans are unsure that Nicolas Anelka is the reinforcement they needed.
“We tried to do what we could and what the other clubs allowed us to do,” continued Conte. “We have been clear since the first day that we do not have a large kitty to draw from. We could’ve done better, we could’ve done worse.
“After all, apart from Mario Balotelli, the top players like Luis Suarez, Stevan Jovetic and Edinson Cavani did not move mid-season.
“Anelka is in decent shape, calculating his last game was in October, and showed himself to be a professional. We are trying to perform a full immersion on him, so he can understand our systems. He will be on the bench against Chievo.
“Are the fans disappointed? You can’t have everything straight away. Like other clubs, we are undertaking a process of growth. We’re not a complete team, though we did proceed very quickly, as we’ve only been working together for 18 months. It’s crazy to talk about a Treble.

Now it is, huh? I'm sure i've seen Vidal, March, Lich and other players saying that's what they aimed for. Now it's crazy? :numnum:

I can understand people not wanting Jovetic if we actually had quality in attack, but the bunch of strikers we currently have is actually quite pathetic for a club of Juve's stature and magnitude. Napoli, for instance, have a far superior attack to ours. Our attackers lack both consistency and scoring ability.

When we don't have quality and need it, we should be aiming for a rung above JoJo because he's not going to be able to carry this team like say, a Suarez would.

If we get Jovetic, we can't get anybody for another 2 years, while he's probably better than what we got I don't think he's enough to make our strikeforce better than the other European heavyweights. If we can get somebody else worldclass, we should get somebody else.

No one's saying they don't want Jovetic here, just that he's not world class and naming him up there with Suarez and co because of one season (where he didn't win anything, mind you) is ridic.

That should be Llorente. I'm sure he will do well here, at least for a couple of seasons.

What makes you think anyone will be available in 2 years? Why wait, when the SS is that missing piece now? That approach reminds me of some people I know; keep pondering and procrastinating, refusing to take risks, until you have to settle for worse cuz all the good opportunities are gone.

He is a level below Suarez for sure, but then when we acquired both Zidane and Del Piero they weren't the world class players they turned out to be/became with us.

Perspective. JoJo was always hyped, amd considered to be a true DP heir, but this season is helping people see things in a slightly different light. He's a good player, with potential, but not the kind a big team like juve should focus their entire mercato strategy around, and certainly not one they should break the bank for. There are very few players in the world for which you do that for. Suarez is one of them. I think it'll be horrible and detrimental policy not to fight for Suarez in the mercato because of all the biggies, he is most likely to be available.
