The 3-5-2 is not losing us games. We are winning those games and commit mental errors. Do you guys actually think critically before you post your ideas?
We are beating Parma 1-0 and they can't cross half. Then Vucinic makes a mental mistake and fortune has it that their forward is in a perfect spot to make a run. And he finishes perfectly.
We are beating Sampdoria 1-0. But we are playing sloppy because we don't have all our lineup. They get a shot. RIGHT AT OUR GOALIE. And it goes in.
How does 4-3-3 fix that? Does Buffon say, "Ok. We're playing 4-3-3, time to stop this shot right at me!" or does everyone expect the 4-3-3 to give us 3 and 4 goal leads or something?
And all these goals have come on Chiellini's side. He's hurt. He'll still be hurt in a 4-3-3. Bonucci in a 4 man back line is utter trash. He's worse than Caceres in a 3 man as a LCB.
What will our 4 man back line be? The left side will be Bonucci and who? Peluso? De Ceglie? That's awful. I'd rather stick with the 3-5-2 that is giving us leads and keeping possession and hope our focus returns.
After saying that I'm not sure if you really watch Juve play this season. In 3-5-2 we sit deeper in our half and it's easier for opponents to keep possession, on our half too.
4-3-3 fixes some things that are broken now, for example:
- we lose possession too easily, because when we get the ball back we have nobody to play the ball to as we sit deeper at the back and we can't counter attack.
- because we have only 2 wingers that have mostly defensive duties our game is narrow. Attacking style of play requires using whole width and height of the field. We don't do that.
- because of lack of offensive wingers it's a lot harder for us to counter attack and keep possession but also it's easier for opponents to cut off our forward line, especially when we play Giovinco - Matri. First is outmuscled in the middle, the other can't keep the ball for a second.
- we don't finish our opponents off because we back of when we score instead of putting some pressing.
- with 3-5-2 our build up play is very slow and predictable.
It's true that 4-3-3 doesn't really fix our goal-scoring problems but it's not like we don't face it with 3-5-2. The difference is with 3-5-2 we don't have that much clear opportunities to score, while with 4-3-3 we were very frustrating in the front of goal.
Our style is what worries me the most at the moment. We don't really attack like we used to, we don't put any pressure on opponents, we're nonchalant. It's like we don't care or are always tired. I think we can utilize our players better in 4-3-3 or even 4-4-2 than 3-5-2. It's clearly visible now when we lost 2-3 players, spent millions on depth players who just can't fill it.
Whatever formation we choose we need to get back to the style we presented last season: pressing while we lose the ball, and play faster with keeping the ball when we're in possession.
