He would have won the league, just needed a win against poor Albinoleffe today, as Atalanta dropped the points. Sounds familiar. I know it says nothing and there's not much difference between finishing 1st or 2nd in Serie B, but I've seen a lot of this from Juve under Del Neri, Zac and Ciro. I still hope that Conte will prove to be a winner, I just have a feeling that Deschamps would have won this game today.

Good managers tend to change their formations every now and then depending on the players they got at their disposal. I hope Conte is one of them.

Managers who start the season by telling journalists the formation they intend to use, like Delneri, are idiots and bound to be losers.

I disagree. I dont see much change in the way Vangaal, Benitez, capello, ancellotti, Wenger or even Mourinho arrange their teams. They all impose their style and their formations with some exceptions here and there. This is why I dont appreciate Marotta deciding who we buy rather than the new coach doing so.

I didn't mean during a season, but throughout their career. Lippi has changed his formation more than once and succeeded, same goes to Van Gaal and Mourinho. Ancellotti, when he switched to the tree formation. I agree with you, certainly, Conte should decide on who we buy. Specially that Marotta has proved to be incompetent.

The point is, even If Conte used a 4-4-2 with Siena and Bari, doesn't mean he cannot change his formation with Juve. I hope he goes for a 4-3-3.

I do agree they made some changes throughout their careers but the examples are very little and these are the best coaches out there. I doubt that an amateur like conte can do such a change effectively. I am doubtful in general about the whole deal. In any case, we shall see.

Lippi went from using the Italian 4-3-3 to the 3-4-1-2 in the 90's, then the 4-3-1-2 after the turn of the century. Mourinho used the 4-3-1-2 in Porto, then switched to 4-3-3 with Chelsea and then 4-2-3-1. Alex Ferguson has not stuck with the 4-4-2 throughout all the years either.

The best managers adapt and change their systems to fit the squad.

But also, the club should establish what kind of style they want to play, and what kind of formations they prefer, for the primavera
you need the primavera to provide the players that are usefull for the team, so they can become understudy's for the first team, and find they way into it much easyer

DD is indeed a more established coach and a very good one at that but I am not sure if the Agneli's didn't burn their bridges with him 4 years ago when he left, so not sure if he could be termed "available" ... either way, Conte has all the stuff he needs to succeed at Juve above all, however, he has the Juve mentality and that would be key in turning this sorry bunch of individuals, del Neri had mastered, into a team.
