But he already tried with offering a 3-month plea bargain because he cared about the interests of the club, so this percetion was a foregone conclusion anyway.
3 months would've been a small price to pay and would have had minimal impact on his reputation. When he realised they're stuffing him around he correctly made a stance and decided not to take any of their bs.

I honestly can't see the difference between the impact on his reputation made by a 3-month plea bargain and by a 5-month plea bargain. Of course I'm speaking theoretically because there's still no verdict nor we can be sure a 5-month plea bargain would have been accepted. Maybe our lawyers believed it was worthwhile to try proving innocence, and in case of failure to try to reduce the ban on appeal to the lenght of somewhere between 5 and the requested 15 months, instead of accepting 5 months straight away.

I'm not saying he will leave nor do I believe anything the newspapers feed me, but I don't disregard its possibility completely. Sure, you may think, "oh but he'll be able to train us on a day to day basis, he just can't go into the locker room on matchdays or be on the bench or give out a press conference..." over a 10 month period the value of that presence could be a lot more. I can't really imagine someone being too happy being a puppet over a 10 month period either
