Conte: 'It hurts to watch Juve'

Italy Coach Antonio Conte admits it “still hurts” to see his old side Juventus, as they “achieved miracles” together.

“I think I chose a lot with my head and not so much with my heart, because my heart would’ve let me stay at Juve for infinity,” Conte told Tuttosport of his decision to quit last summer.

“When I took over, we were up against a strong side like Milan who had Thiago Silva, Ibrahimovic and their old guard. Four years ago, the Rossoneri were like Juve are today.

“Pushing that team off the throne and taking their place was our masterpiece: mine and the players. We achieved miracles together. However, to get there we used up so much energy in all areas.

“In May 2014 the club and I agreed to wait and see if certain situations could be shaken off. My choice to leave was with a heavy heart, but it was honest. You can see in my farewell video how much it hurt to take that step, but I did think and continue to believe it was the right solution for everyone.”

The tactician has been touring all the Serie A clubs to speak with Coaches, players and staff about training methods.

Juve had been consistently pushed back down the calendar, but the get-together finally happened on Friday.

“When I see the players I had a very intense rapport with... I’ll be honest, it hurts to watch Juventus. It happened to me in the past, when I left Bari. It’s above all an emotional strain.

“Today Juve are in ideal conditions: the revenue is up, because with great sacrifice we were able to surpass everyone. Now the Bianconeri must do everything to stay up there, whereas the others will try to chip away at the foundations of the skyscraper we constructed.”

Hope he's enjoying his time coaching the national team in the most irrelevant, pointless time there is. I.E after the World Cup. Obviously it's a dream job in a way but I thought he'd have some sort of ambition to be working full time at his age coming off the back of 3 league titles but meh.

No, it's the perfect time. The World Cup didn't go well, and you can't build a new team in 6 months. 4 years gives you a lot of time to experiment, to have some influence on the organization.

No alibi for that level retardation, inexcusable to say shit like that about someone who loves this club and given so much to it (despite the extremely annoying and rash way he left it). Some level of respect is due, criticism is one thing, but juvenile BS like that is too much.

I find it so laughable to do a 180 on someone we adored because of his work but most importantly his intoxicating passion. Coaching Juve was more then a job for him, we saw that at every step of the way, and I will truly miss that aspect, that the club is in the hands of someone who bleeds for the shirt.

Criticise or question him on professional level, but it just makes it worse to constantly fap over despicable tards like Balo and Totti then say such bile about one of us, is truly troubling to read.

Crazy how both of the teams that I love, Juventus and the San Francisco 49ers have such similar stories. Both teams were once great teams, went into obscurity, and came back to the spotlight at the hands of "mastermind" coaches in Antonio Conte and Jim Harbaugh. Conte had 3 consecutive scudettos, Harbaugh 3 NFC title games in a row with One SB appearance. Both leave under mysterious circumstances but also get a chance to achieve one of their "dreams" in coaching the Italy National Squad and Michigan University. As we know, both Agnelli and Marotta were harshly criticized at the time for not giving him what he wanted and replacing him with a perceived fool in Allegri. Now the 49ers owner Jed York and GM Trent Baalke are being harshly criticized with replacing Harbaugh with a nobody in Jim Tomsula, and there is a perception that they drove Harbaugh out as well.

He'd beat Allegri's top squad with a mediocre squad again..
