It's definitely the biggest problem, finding motivation. Even the absolute elite have struggled with it, in their own ways. Yet Bayern still walked a supposedly strong league, and Barcelona may still yet win La Liga. We're not that level, but comparative class does tell.
Still, maybe a new coach brings different demands and motivation?

It's obvious that Marotta's first season was a disaster, at least in comparison, he takes the blame just as he takes the plaudits with a better set up. But after that you're just kidding yourself, and these supposed transfers we could have made (Cavani, Higuain etc) just reinforce that. There is absolutely no point in singling out individuals in our sporting directorate, from Agnelli to Conte, with Marotta, Paratici and Nedved in-between.

Look, i dont rate Marotta, according to our perfromances, i rate him for his work!
His kob IMO ends when the season starts! We have needs and objectives and certain options.
The players have a certain value and a certain price tag, some things are objective, esp when there are numbers involved.
MArotta has been failing with great conististnece to get the players we need.
I dont give him extra credits for opportunity targets, because everybody given this job can fins some. Every single summer, before the summer transfer window, we set some standards, you know very well that i am not one of those children that dream of the Dzekos and the RPVs.
But i do have a problem when we cant find a LB better than Peluso in a six transfer window quest.
I do have a problem, when every other Serie A team can find a finisher like Klose, BAllo, Cavani, Higuain, Rossi etc when they have less resources than us and we could only get the Borriellos and the Anelkas up untill Llorente's contract expired.
I do have a problem when we loan away talents like Giovinco and give away their half for 3.5 mil and when we get them back we pay them like they are worthy 25mil.
I do have a problem that we are the only team that cant sell a player and we are paying salaries untill the player's contract run out.
I have a problem when we pay more than anyone else to get the same players they would get for 40%
I believe this is why a transfer director should be judged for...
And Marotta has fallen sort each and every time!
The casual fan might not care, as he is not the one losing money when we give 12mil to get Giovinco back and might overlook the ammount we have wasted on Martinezs, but our financial dont,
they dont forget, not forgive, the wholes made on our budget limit our potential.
some casual fan might not care of the loses we made by selling off players, because they dont think, or they dont remember, or they dont care, but i do!
And i am here to remind them, its their choice if they keep choosing to forget and not to care, as long as the results are there.
And just becuase MArotta's inefficiences, i rate even more Conte's work, becuase the man has to work with some handicaps, which makes his job so much more difficult,
like making an LB from Asamoah, an LB Marotta cant find since the day he came here, an LB COnte has asked right from the very first day he took over.
I believe its unfair to Conte's work, when ppl give MArotta credit, despite failing to do his job, only because Conte made up for it...

@Cronios, I remember you fapping all over the place when Tevez was brought as he was the finisher that you wanted for a long time; your own words. You even said that last summer's mercato was of the highest standard and for a while praised Marotta, something I've never thought would be possible, for a well done job as most objectives, if not all, were met.
And Klose is well past it, while Rossi is plagued with injuries and huge gamble that I wouldn't have liked for us to take.

Tevez was never a finisher, never will be, i was the one saying that instead of investing the majority of our transfer budget on more SSs and CMs, we should better invest on a finisher and LB,
not just now, ever since Zambro and Trezequet left us...
I said the same whenwe were getting Quaq, Vucinic, Amauri and Matri, i dont rate as finishers, any of them, some of them are CFs, but none is the prolific finisher to become Treze's heir.
How can one rate Tevez as such is beyond me.
Tevez is a quality player and i was glad that we got him at one point, because Marotta's alternative was Borriello.

At the beginning of the season, i preferred Higuain over Tevez, because i believe that Higuain is the CF Tevez isnt and the partenrship of Tevez+Llorente is in my eyes, a lesser option than Vucinic+Higuain. I ve always believed that since the Secco days we were stacked up in SS and CM positions.
However Tevez has the extra ability of scoring, unlike the SSs like Vucinic, i know that Marotta cannot get us a quality finisher, he just cant, he never did and never will, so our best bet is a SS than score at decent rate and a half decent finisher like Llorente. I dont believe that MArotta can do any better than that, so we better stop wasting money on the forward line and fix our left wing and defense!
Bringing Tevez would end this charade and thats why i was happy with it, i still am, unless we keep spending the majority of our transfer budget on yet more SSs and CMs and keep ignoring the positions we lack decent options...

He was never a +20 goal/season player and in the Spanish league its easier to accomplish that than in Italy.
There was a moment that he would be a fine upgrade, but Marotta was 3 years late, by the time we got him, his value was diminished, because he grew older, was perma-benched and we were succesfull enough to opt for a better solution.
I see this not as a victory now, but as a defeat of the previous years, when Conte was forced to field Borriello, because MArotta couldnt close the Llorente deal, or an alternative and would not invest on another one and because of his inabilities, we had to fight with a cripple player for the championship.
Others might have forget this, but i wont!!! How can one forget this?!?
And in the end, despite the huge handicaps the miracle maker Conte had to come by, to get that title, ppl cheer for Marotta...
