What happened? Can anyone explain?
Conte locked down on the players to instill discipline at the expense of reaching out to the fans where they traveled. People came from far away just to see the team, only to discover that what was advertised as an open training session to the public was closed by Conte because he felt like it and didn't want pesky fans in the way. Same with things like the meet & greet I was especially invited to.

And what did all that additional player discipline bring him? Zero wins and a number of pissed off fans.

Juve's still come far considering that 3 years ago when you, I and the rest went to see Juve play the concept of 'meet & greet' didn't even exist. We had to jump 'em behind the stadium lol to meet them.
We did have to take a covert golf cart ride and basically bum rush the bus.:D

Well do you think the club would listen to complaints about this? Maybe if they realized how many people they pissed off & disillusioned... I've just never heard of such a fail from any club on any preseason tour.
I think they would because they are ahead of other clubs in regards to engaging fans via social media, etc..

Couldn't care less about the performance and results of these friendlies - stop the presses, Italian teams not taking friendly/exhibition games seriously.

But the "Meet and Greet" session being cancelled, especially after some fans travelled from far to attend - not cool. Club should know better. Terrible way to treat your own supporters.

I hope we don't bother going to the US for a while. This trip is now infamous :D

I simply can't understand clubs and players today. They should have weekly meetings with fans, preseason, especially tour should be mostly about it. They could have stayed in Vinovo if they wanted peace. Fans are the biggest asset of any club but yet we see lack of respect from many players, cubs and coaches. Look at Del Piero few days ago. That's the way how they should treat fans.

I think Conte finds it hard to switch off. You see someone like Mourinho who can go between the serious coach and jester with the media and fans, but Conte seems to have that ruthless focus all the time. Benitez is another who is a bit like that, their minds don't stop.

Still, I'd take that if it means continued success. Maybe we can't expect normality, because that sort of mindset is what makes him as a coach. He doesn't switch off even with wins or good performances. Maybe it's something that comes with experience of being a coach at a club expected to tour around the world every summer.
