he just meant that we are still incomplete as a team, many new players and some areas missing a batter players.

he knows we still have alot to do before we talk about Scudetto like the previous coaches did and thought when they took their job it was like automatic Scudetto challenge. but Conte played for Juventus for years and under so many coaches and so he know he cant get us back to the top without working on the team to improve instead of just talking about Scudetto and just giving hopes.

i already likes his attitude and i hope he keep it this way.

Fireworks are expected from tomorrow evening’s Berlusconi Trophy clash against Milan, an annual clash between the Bianconeri and Rossoneri always provides a red-hot atmosphere. It’s a spirited Juventus side who make the short journey south, buoyed by their encouraging display on Thursday night.

Last weekend’s goalless draw against Betis was followed by a determined, attacking performance on Thursday, giving the public an brief glimpse of how Conte’s Juventus are taking shape. The manager, however, called for time and insisted that a rational approach to his new era is required.

“It makes me chuckle that after Betis people were saying that there’s still a lot of work to be done, while following Thursday night they’re talking about the title.

I’m asking for patience to let me get my ideas across to the group. We’re coming from two seventh-place finishes, while Milan won the Scudetto last year and Inter won everything just a couple of years ago. There’s a gap, but it doesn’t have to be a hindrance. There’s a great desire to do well and get back to being competitive.”

Juve’s TIM Trophy campaign saw a spectacular debut from Chilean Arturo Vidal. The midfield livewire found the target, hit the crossbar and then set up Matri’s winner with a perfectly-weighted cross. Conte valued the pre-season workout and sought to praise the Bianconeri’s recent arrival.

“The TIM trophy allowed us to understand the importance of the work that we’re doing, which can enable us to get back to being competitive.

“Vidal is a versatile player and has played in practically every position with the national team, apart from in goal. In Bari, we only had Vucinic, Del Piero and Matri as our strikers and there was need for support.”

On the subject of the transfer market, Juve’s former captain paid tribute to Marotta’s role in the Vucinic signing and declared that activity was still ongoing behind the scenes to bring more new faces to Turin.

“Since becoming Juventus manager I’ve had daily meetings with the directors. Marotta has done well to wait for Vucinic and move at the right time. We know the path we’re on, numbers wise we’re still a little short and other players will arrive in due course.”

Conte’s press conference ended with the unexpected revelation of Milan’s line-up by a journalist. The Rossoneri manager, Massimiliano Allegri, had already announced the following selection ahead of the game: Abbiati; Abate, Nesta, Bonera, Taiwo; Gattuso, Ambrosini, Seedorf; Boateng, Emanuelson; Cassano. When asked by a journalist to follow suit, Conte smiled and commented that Juve’s opponents looked “strong”. He did, however, confirm a player returning to action and several who will miss the season’s curtain-raiser.

“Marchisio is available and trained with the group today. Pepe, Martinez, Quagliarella and Toni will not feature at the Berlusconi because I’d prefer them to continue to train to be 110% for Tuesday’s return to Vinovo.”

Conte seeks Juve identity

Antonio Conte prepares to face Milan in tomorrow’s Trofeo Berlusconi. “We need to create our own identity, like the other big clubs.”
The Bianconeri drew with Inter and beat the Rossoneri 2-1 in the Trofeo TIM mini-tournament on Thursday evening, showing vast improvements.

“I expect daily answers from the squad. We’ve got to do much better in so many areas,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“The game is a significant test, but we have to look at our everyday work too. My job is to give this side an identity.

“All the top teams, like Inter, Milan, Napoli and Lazio, have their own approach to football and impose it on their opponents. This is what Juventus have to do as well. We need to create our own identity.

“We’ve also got to get used to the word Scudetto again, as it is part of Juventus history. At the same time, we must be realistic and not take the fans for a ride. Let’s just say we are working to become competitive again.

“The Bianconeri finished seventh for the last two seasons, whereas Milan and Inter won it all. The distance between us is not a worry, but rather motivation to do better.”

Simone Pepe, Jorge Martinez, Fabio Quagliarella and Luca Toni are out of Sunday’s traditional pre-season Trofeo Berlusconi at San Siro due to injury.

Summer signing Arturo Vidal was very impressive in the Trofeo TIM and should again take the midfield reins against Milan.

“He is a very versatile player,” smiled Conte. “Vidal played practically every position at international level.

“I didn’t have many strikers at my disposal, so I put him in a slightly more advanced role, where he could show his quality. The club knows the squad needs to be completed and our directors are fully aware of what they have to do.”

Thank you.

Such a shame he wants to give Juve an identity, a good coach would have wanted his team imitate barca.

He aknowledges that Napoli and Lazio are top flyers, he is updated!
And i like the soft balance between measured expectations and great ambitions!
both topped the league for long period with players less than merda and milan. he meant they have built a team and style of play to put pressure on any team when they are on form not that they are top flyers

Can you please choose a sensible signature rather than quoting 50+ lines of verbiage from Cronios' post? It is not very considerate to the other members.
