The thing is with Bonucci he is all about his confidence. When he plays regularly and has the faith of Conte he is really good. But I dont see him as someone who can come in and out of the team cuz he is not consistent with his mentality. Once he loses his confidence he spirals into very poor form and takes a while to get it back. If we bench him it might turn him back into the pre-Conte era Bonucci. It will be a tough call what to do. I am happy Ogbonna has slotted in so well and is looking like a leader all ready

He still had lapses. The guy just keeps getting himself into trouble. We'll see how the season shapes up but it's good we brought Ogbonna. Little competition will be good for both.

I think on pace alone Ogbonna could bench bonucci. Conte likes having a good distributor there so they both can do that, but Bonucci lacks pace and is not as physically strong as Ogbonna. I could not see Bonucci handling that battle against Anichebe well. That said, Bonucci is a great player so it will be interesting to see what happens.

Survival of the fittest. Won't feel sorry for whomever of the two gets benched. I trust Conte's judgement completely.

Very good performance. His long balls are good, but the chemistry with the strikers is obviously lacking at the moment. Loved his defending!

And the beautiful thing is, he is capable of playing in Bonucci's and Chiellini's position, even as an LB if we ever go 4-3-3. The guy just has that "dont fuck with me", all business vibe about him, I like it. Solid player.

Is there a player that his performances aren't effected by his confidence?

It was a great display by Ogbonna, but it's still a meaningless friendly. If it was a bad performance, I'm sure a lot of you would have mentioned it. Now, let's be consistent.

I see him more as a Chiellini replacement that Bonucci's anyway.

So far Conte's been using him there and he could have easily put Marone there and Ogbonna on the left. But he didn't.

if he put Marrone there today, then we would have had no one to play the DLP role
And what good that has brought us? We could have played vidal-asa-padoin without dlp. I dont think it was the issue. Ogbonna has an excellent technique and thats the reason why conte likes him there.
