Just installed a custom 2.1 ROM on my phone. But I forgot to backup my contacts on the phone. Though I still have a nandroid image of my previous ROM, it's gonna be a pain in the ass getting it from there!

I was expecting that kind of stuff so I set up my contacts on gmail so that I can resync.

I know. But I preferred to have my contacts on the phone itself and not synced to Gmail. I think I gotta start doing that now.

Btw, I forgot to mention that I took an HTC Sync backup of my contacts a week ago. So At most, I'll just lose a few new contacts, which isn't bad.

Right, so that 2.1 ROM had a problem. So I searched and found a ROM based on a leaked HTC Wildfire ROM. I now have 2.1 with Sense and most of the goodies that comes on a Wildfire!

PS: One of the biggest drawbacks of using an unofficial 2.1 ROM on MY phone is that the camera doesn't work. That's cos HTC did not release any 2.1 compatible drivers, and the mods are unable to port it. I hope it's not the case with the Magic.

My phone runs so damn slow it's getting on my nerves. Sometimes making a phone call can take over 30seconds (just to select the person from the address book). Please help me find a solution or I'll throw it against a wall one of these days

By that you mean root it?

Rooting is just the first step. After that, you gotta install a custom recovery that will let you install custom roms.
