Don't know how big a factor the captaincy is. De Rossi said recently he's never understodd people going on about the Capitan Futuro thing, because it'll be a sad day when he becomes captain as it'll mean Totti is no longer playing for Roma.

And I'd say the lack of success is a large part of what is keeping De Rossi at Roma.
