Yep his movement is wonderful, just a really clever player. Also, I liked his underrated defensive work in the game as well.

People who are saying he is finished are retarded. Still has plenty of years left in him.

No, because it requires very specific players to work, and is rather weak defensively if you dont have em

You basically asked, can "Sweden play samba football"
Don't be ridiculous sir, I did not just say that... Spain play the double-pivot with Sergio Biscuits and Xabi Alonso (and would thus be familiar with it), not saying it would be a standard deployment of our team, but a possible alternative. I don't see how you could have possibly misconstrued my words any more, at least you could attempt to do so with a smattering of good humour.

Why would it be weak defensively, Xabi Alonso is essentially a hybrid defensive midfielder and a playmaker who can perform both functions, whilst Pirlo is more a pure deep lying playmaker; then Vidal as we know, is an all out, tireless and defensively apt box-to-box midfielder who can competently support the team both in attack and defence. Your statement (or poor excuse of an argument) is thus both baseless and invalid.

Oh my dear god did you write all this to argue that his statement is baseless and invalid? Hahaha chill man are you a lawyer or something? Maybe it was intended it be baseless, think about it ;) And keep calm :p

Yes Xabi Pirlo Vidal can work out beautifully.

Zach was kind of a dick there but there is no way Xabi and Pirlo can work out together. They're both really slow and can't defend that well.

It's time to move on from Pirlo. This is how you get in trouble. A player that looks done seems to find a good run of form, his most recent good game coming in a friendly btw, and we are ready to commit another 2 years to him, completely disregarding how slow he looks in CL games?

You can't get anywhere in the CL when your creative focal point plays in front of your friggin defense. If he's happy as a sub then I'm happy to have him but somehow I doubt Pirlo will sign on to be anything but a starter and an important one at that.

It's important that we don't disrespect the man but we seriously cannot think that he will be reliable for another 2 years when he's already not up to snuff in the CL. The focus of our midfield has to be shifted to Pogba and Vidal, two burgeoning world class players.

Yep. Time for a replacement or a change in attacking philosophy.

Could we do a duel pivot system (aka Spain NT) with Xabi and Pirlo with Vidal or Pogba in a more advanced position in a midfield 3?
Juve don't really have the moving pieces at the moment. I think it would really require more of a change in tactical philosophy than Conte would want.

I might be wrong, but Pirlo insisted on 3 year contract with Milan when we signed him. I believe he'll not be satisfied with this 2-year contract.

I would probably sign him for another year with option for another maybe
I would offer him 3-year deal. He will 37 at that moment and look at Totti, he is 40 already.

:wth: Totti is 37. WTF are you smoking?

I'd give Pirlo a one year extension with an option for a 2'nd. A 3 year commitment at this stage of his career is excessive.
:agree: maybe he can play for 3 years but there is no need to commit to that. just take it on a year by year basis.

My tolerance of bullshit just happens to border on the non-existent. Some people ignore, I prefer to make my point unassailable, and no, I'm not a lawyer haha. :)

Pirlo was absolutely right to demand a longer contract when he was only 31. It was perfectly reasonable to think he could play at a high level in those years, as a lot of players can retain a pretty good level to about 34.

However, once you go beyond that age you are getting into a far riskier period regarding how a player will continue to perform, and I'm sure Pirlo will understand that and not go into a negotiation with Juve expecting to be given another three year deal.
