The ironic thing is Pirlo actually had a decent game last night. Was easily our best midfielder out there. So odd time to bring this up.
Well i didn't say he had a bad game or anything, just dont like the way we depend on a 34 year old so much and we look a terrible team when he's not destroying the opponents with his passing.

Instead of finding a pirlo replacement why cant we just swap this 3-1-4-2 for a 3-4-1-2? Get rid of the regista role and get a trequartista? Or even play tevez behind the strikers.
Not a bad idea tbh, still lacks width though which i think is badly needed in this team right now.

I thought he grew into the game actually. Started really slow. But from what I've seen of him in this season, Ancellotti is going to destroy us, if we rely on Pirlo for those two Real games.

Wingbacks provide the width but we need proper wingbacks for this formation to be successful in Europe also. Not WB's in the mould of Lichtsteiner or Asamoah.

I mean you need atleast one player out of the two flanks in the Cuadrado mould for instance.

Cuadrado isnt a proper wing back. If we are going to find proper wing backs which are like totally gone we might as well just buy wingers and change the formation

Pirlo is one of my favorite players but we have to plan our future without him. We hsould keep him for a year or two longer because he's a gem but his role should be a bit reduced. I don't agree we should look for his replacement. We shouldn't spend big money on CM area anymore but instead look for wingers and/or forwards.

I agree with TheCusp - if we want to catch up with the rest with Europe, we have to change our way of play and probably formation. That includes our Pirlo dependency.

Yeah, I thought Pirlo was pretty decent.

Set up a clear chance for Tevez and put plenty balls out to the wing backs to get them into good crossing postions.

Usual thing, though: after a poor result everyone jumps on their current favourite thing to complain about.
