Believe me it would be better if we had an actual coach. Keep asking yourself is this team really where it should be in the league? No absolutely not, you really think this team is any less competitive than last season? absolutely not. Did we have an actual coach last season? YES (even if Sarri is bad, he's still better than Pirlo)
Would keeping Higuain, Costa, Matuidi for example have done any better than Morata, Chiesa and Mckennie? ask yourself that!
Is that lazy, underperforming, unmotivated Pjanic that much of a loss that we are 12 points behind inter?
Seriously I challenge everyone to ask themselves what I've put in the above.
Then again people were pissed we didn't even sign mandzukic in January and said we've left ourselves short without him... well guess what he's scored the square root of fuck all for Milan in the 4 months he's been there, just imagine how many here would be pissed if he had the same output here given the wages he's on.

No they wouldn't have done better. Yes, it was time to get rid of Pjanic. But lets look a little more closely at those deals. I recall issues selling being a big criticism for Marotta. Higuain and Matuidi left for free, deals similar to which Marotta got criticized for in the past. It looks like Douglas Costa will be back here next season from his loan anyway, so I think it's a bit premature to count that as a victory at this point.
De Ligt was a good, if not expensive purchase. The Morata move was great as well, came out of nowhere. The Can sale was good. The Kean one unfortunately necessary it seems. Danilo turned out well thanks to Pirlo. I'm unconvinced by Demiral and Kulusevski.
We looked like we finally had another leftback with potential in Spinazzola, until Paratici traded him for a player that we will never see play for us. Now we have Bernardeschi and Frabotta. We have one player whose main position is LW in a very expensive 36 year old Ronaldo.
The midfield has been an issue for years now, and it continues to decline. Lets have a look at the signings there. McKennie was a decent signing for the price, sure. Probably shouldn't be a starter in a team lookint to win the Champions League though. But where are the rest? Rabiot is meh, nothing to take us to the next level, meanwhile Ramsey is barely healthy, which everyone in the world knew. It's great that Arthur is younger than Pjanic, but at the moment he doesn't seem particularly great either. Holds the ball well, but has stamina worse than me and seems to be an unprofessional dumbass. Not all transfers are going to work out, we all know that. So how about we sell one or two and replace them? But hold on now, Rabiot and Ramsey have wages that are astronomical on long contracts, selling them will be extremely difficult, if at all possible. Meanwhile due to some "fancy" accounting, Arthur's book value is sky high, so selling him for a profit will also prove to be impossible, at least for a few years. So now this leaves us in a terrible spot, financially crippled at our weakest point, which also happens to be the most important on the pitch in the modern game.
While questions are being asked, I think you should also ask yourself "are we better off now than we were 3 years ago?"
